Download Problem

everything is on video.
Vivaldi - Download.mp4
link to potentially pirated software removed
It started recently. Perhaps with the release of version 6. The same problem on different clouds. I had to install Internet Download Manager, but it requires direct links.
Vivaldi 6.1.3050 snap, Speed 50 MBit/s
I used to download everything through Vivaldi for several years.
Most clouds don't give out direct links.
I can't download many files at all. -
@sphera Hi, I had no problems downloading that file here, clean profile of Vivaldi 6.1 Stable, Win10 x64.
I even tried with
curl
andwget
to download, still completed.Your video makes no sense to me, you're clicking a lot and opening IDM a lot, it's very confusing what you're trying to do. Also you cannot just copy the page URL into IDM, you need to find the actual download url first, this is basic stuff.
The status
network
on your download indicated a problem on your network. Might be an issue specific to your network. You can open the Chromium downloads page in Vivaldi for maybe better error messages, open:
chrome://downloads
Have you tried in other browsers?
Please try the troubleshooting steps, including testing in a clean profile and disabling adblocking/extensions:

@Pathduck Mail.ruCloud -- Problem. GoogleDrive -- no problem.
Previously , there were no problems with any clouds in Vivaldi.
Yes, there are indeed direct links on the vivaldi://downloads page. Thanks, I didn't know. But they give the server response "403 Forbidden . nginx/1.20.2".
The link is direct, but no one will let you download it. -
@sphera Have you tested in other browsers?
I can't really help you with general download problems. I can only help if something is a problem in Vivaldi only. From what I can tell it's not, as it works fine for me. So it's something on your network that terminates connections during download.
-
I can't understand the reason for this at all. I confirm that this is not Vivaldi's problem. I used the features of the service MultCloud.com to simply move a file from Mail.Cloud to another (Yandex, OneDrive, GoogleDrive). This operation can it can happen without the participation of the browser, and without the user himself. But Mail.Cloud have big problem. I hope this is a temporary problem.

link to potentially pirated software removed
I had to use all my knowledge of Developer Tools to calculate a direct link from this file sharing site.
Same link through Internet Download Manager
And simple link from Google Drive
link to potentially pirated software removed
I don't think the problem is in my network//modedit - links to potentially pirated software removed

@sphera Please stop sharing links to sites and software like that. We have no way of knowing if this is pirated software or not, and for me it looks like warez.
Consider this a warning.
Like I said, we cannot help you figure out direct download links or how your download manager works.
Download managers usually use multiple download threads that in some cases can improve download speed.
Please learn to understand how your software works before asking about it. -
Are you accusing me of misunderstanding ? It's normal for you to have understanding in your team.
And how are you doing with mindfulness training?
I specially bought a red marker for you. The second picture. Tell me, how do you understand it.You don't tell me about multithreaded other-side software. Tell me about single-threaded downloader in Vivaldi.
I саn't to download anything from a large cloud Mail.ru. I found the same error on another resource. On Goigle.Drive no ptoblem. -
It's not about distributing links to outdated versions. And in the opportunity to test them.
I found a browser problem and now I'm to blame for it.
And I still have to "learn to understand " more advanced software. -
@sphera I'm saying you do not understand the software you use and you should study it a bit more.
The second picture. Tell me, how do you understand it.
I already explained. From the image alone, I can see IDM uses at least 6 connections/threads to download, probably 8.
Tell me about single-threaded downloader in Vivaldi.
Vivaldi like all browsers only use a single connection for downloads, this is how it's always been and it's not going to change any day soon.
-
@Pathduck I don't require multithreaded loading. I put this IDM for the first time in 6 years. I used to pump everything through Vivaldi. And the volumes are more serious than 1 GB. What 's broken on version 6 ? Why did the browser download from any clouds before ?
-
@sphera Downloads work fine in Vivaldi. And your image shows that Vivaldi downloads the file at 1MB/s which is what I get for that file as well.
If your downloads are terminated then it's a problem with your network or ISP.
I have asked many times - have you tried in another browser?
Here's an actual legal download, 7.5GB:
https://ftp.sunet.se/pub/debian-cd/12.0.0/amd64/iso-bd/debian-edu-12.0.0-amd64-BD-1.isoDownloads in little over a minute for me in Vivaldi 6.1:
-
@Pathduck you are a very pleasant and useful interlocutor. It was very informative to learn about sunet.se , more FTP.
I gave you a link to Mail.ru , but you are more interested in the rights to older versions of the software.
Look at the beginning of the topic, it's about Cloud.Mail.ru.
I also have a mobile Internet is 4 times faster than LAN, but the topic is not about that. -
@sphera said in Download Problem:
Vivaldi 6.1.3050 snap
Why such old version? Perhhaps cloud, mail,ru slows down transfer speed when using a outdated product.
I can not test such download, i do not support mail,ru.
-
@DoctorG 6.1.3035 snap -- old ???
-
@sphera Current Stable is 6.1.3035.84. Snapshot 6.1.3035.50 is older.
-
@DoctorG said in Download Problem:
Snapshot 6.1.3035.50 is older
come on now, it's just one week old, it can't be even called old to be fair.
-
@iAN-CooG I do not test Snapshots versions older than Stable as such Snapshots do not get fixes.
-
@DoctorG tnx, once you has already claimed that the YouTube.com is evil. Don't strain yourself with advice.
I have auto-update enabled, this is a standard browser setting. I don't really follow the version. It can be determined by the date of my message. I 'm interested in the real reasons , not weak guesses . -
@sphera Could be that Vivaldi is limited by the cloud server security software or the route to the server is controlled or very slow or you use VPN/Proxy.
Perhaps a russian user can help you in a better way.
