Solved Slow Forum Reloading
-
@Pesala Apparently the consensus backstage is that it has something to do with reading databases connected to profiles. There is attention on it at the moment.
-
@Ayespy As the Top Poster, I guess that would make me particularly vulnerable to some database lookups.
-
@Pesala It would potentially mean the database connected to your profile is large, as is mine. If you want to look at "unread," for example, There would have to be stored data somewhere containing topic tags that indicate everything you HAVE read since the last time it was modified.
-
I guess Cloudflare protection of Vivaldi forum server is the slowdown.
-
Hi all, I changed to my second profile and all is fast again.
Unread open in 0.7 seconds. -
It has been more than a month now since I reported this issue.
(67429762280) Support ticket: Pages Load SlowlyHas there been any progress?
-
-
@Pesala The devs appear to have linked it to the fact that sufferers are all persons who have a very large number of followed topics. Not sure what progress on a fix.
-
@Ayespy
Hi, have disabled following but this doesn't change anything. -
@mib3berlin Interesting. I'll mention that to the devs.
-
@Pesala Is the forum now faster for you after today's update?
-
For me it seems worse - the moderation interface is as slow as it was before, but now when I'm on the unread page and I select "Mark all as unread", even if there are only a few posts it now takes about 5 seconds to update. I did not see that before.
-
@LonM Huh, i get 10 seconds waiting…
-
@DoctorG I guess clearing the Cache would help.
-
@Pesala FYI, that report has been moved to Community-related issues and has a new number now: CW-1870. Interestingly, I'm not experiencing significant slowness on my account with ~2.5k watched topics (there are not that many recent ones in that number, though).
-
@pafflick I have 8,108 watched topics. Is there any way to unmark them in bulk? I already disabled:
Watch topics you create
Watch topics that you reply to -
I have also set Ignore but doesn't change anything:
-
@Pesala I don't think so - at least I haven't found one. Perhaps removing records directly from the database - though it's only a workaround. We haven't found a solution yet...
-
The forum has become unusable for me, so I have switched to a spare account, which I created for testing purposes.
There is no speed issue at all with this account.

@BhikkhuPesala @pafflick
I have to use my second account at moment, if you open unread 50 times a day it is not possible with my mib2 account.Cheers, mib
