Unable to use Security Key with 2FA
-
I see there's been some confusion, so let me clear it up. From what I can see, you've sent two reports - one reporting it as a browser bug (VB-97301) and another requesting support regarding the Two-Factor authentication page. I was replying to the support request.
You reported that the "Add a new key" button didn't work. We have checked several machines, and it prompted the WebAuthn dialogue in all of them. There were no other reports (apart from yours) of it not triggering any action - hence it looked like there was some issue on your end, as it should've opened the system (or Chromium) dialogue regardless of the used key. I'm still not sure why it doesn't trigger any action, and I've been unable to reproduce it.
I asked you to report it as a website issue instead, but since there is a report already, I closed the latest one as a duplicate. Since you claim to observe similar behaviour in other browsers, I moved your bug report to the correct category (which is "Vivaldi.net website & services"), and it is now registered as CW-1794. It will require further investigation. -
@DoctorG I understand that, however I was emailed by Pawel and told that it was my device or the browser I was using that the 2fa was working fine, based on the bug report I submitted first. It's all good. Hopefully someone will figure it out. I know factually it's not on my end. Thank you very much for hanging with me on this

Tell the truth, I did not want to spend any more time on it. I was just so frustrated having tried to sort it out for about half-an-hour not getting anywhere.
But, to show willing, from memory, the error message was stating that it did not recognize the yubikey and that the yubikey had changed. Well, I only own one yubikey so it could not have changed and no amount of trouble-shooting sorted the issue. No-one else has access tot he yubikey nor to the PC. Hope that helps. -

Thank you. Sorry, I didnt mean to suggest anything rude. I misunderstood.
It has been a long and difficult day.
Thank you for your kindness in reaching out. -
@TelB Sorry, i misunderstood that you did not want to test more. Lost in translation or my bad English.
I am really interested to help with you the Yubikey.
And you do not need to apologise, i understand – we have all hard work days fiddling with some nasty hardware or software issues.

@TelB
I have Yubikey Security Key NFC (blue) & Yubikey 5 NFC (black) with Firmware 5.1.2
Check with Yubikey Manager.//EDIT: Oh, my firmware is older than current 5.7 listed at
https://docs.yubico.com/hardware/yubikey/yk-tech-manual/yk5-overview.htmlAnd as i know Yubikeys can not be updated.
- Which Yubikey version and firmware?
- Which OS and version?
- What does the error message looks like? (take screenshot and upload here)
