[Performance] Increase speed by hiding process identity (VB-96068)
Interestingly this build does perform noticeably better than previous versions of Vivaldi. I'd be curious to know exactly how that works. I assume Windows assigns system resource priority based on application type?
-
Just to understand: Was there a reason why the Chromium-Version in About Vivaldi shows "112.0.0.0", whereas this Snapshot has „112.0.5615.141“?
-
@Thot That is a Chromium thing where the User-Agent string doesn't list information beyond the major version number.
If you want to see the Chromium version in use, go to Vivaldi's settings and type "
biscuit
" in the settings search box. That will bring up theBiscuit Area
settings where you can enableShow Browser Version on Status Bar

@GT500 Believe that is related to this: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/84929/hardcoded-optimizations-in-gpu-drivers

I now see ads on YouTube. Ad-blocking is enabled and I have changed nothing else.
-
@Pesala
Hi, when do you see ad`s, I don´t want to watch the whole video?
Except the default lists I have the cookie remove lists enabled and get no ad´s.Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin I have the same settings. The ads usually appear at the start of a video. It is random, but apparently more common than before. I am nearly always logged in to YouTube.
-
@pesala: I also see no ad’s, but looked in private window without beeing logged into YouTube.
-
@kamizuru: Interestingly, if you use 2-level tab stacks, and have one open, the problem doesn't manifest and there's no extra space at top.

Interesting. Thanks.

I like the longer Bookmark drop-down (because when we do navigate the tree a longer tree is better).
fwiw.
after reading the changelog and all the comments before updating, i tested this change once i'd updated with my old css disabled. i was disappointed at the still-too-short list view, so i re-enabled my css.
.BookmarkPopup { min-height:990px; } .BookmarkPopup .BookmarkLocationSelector { height: 640px; }

I still feel VB-96803 should be addressed.
Either revert the best result in address bar, or better yet, give the option to revert it for those who wants it.
-
@bikas Confirmed, but no dev assigned at this time.
-
@ybjrepnfr I would expect some slightly tweaked version of that code which would take monitor height in account to exist in Vivaldi for a long time already. Really, how difficult is such a thing.
-
I was hoping the "Vivaldi Snapshot Linux X64 browser usually exits suddenly after downloading" might have been fixed. The code at particularly involving ".deb" files is inconsistent, occasionally prompting "this kind of file can harm your computer" esp. if it is "goo*.deb", most other .deb are whitelisted I guess.

@Pathduck LOL Image's sub line could be like: Duck Duck Go or Duck On Its Own Path.
-
@Hadden89 That didn't help me. I'm still receiving an error: "Login for outgoing server failed. Server responded with: [object Object]" with Oauth turned off.
Looks like it's back to Thunderbird for a while.

@Pathduck "Oh, look Ma! A PathDuck"

[Bookmarks] Simplify UI for Add Bookmark (VB-91681)
Here we go again...
This is just like when the new pop up was introduced, it had a tiny window for the tree list (arguably the most important part) while wasting space on superfluous things that could be nested in a single element.
My modded version takes up less overall space (720x1045) while having more tree rows.
The newest version has fewer tree rows while still managing to be much larger (725x1218)
I also find the buttons more intuitive and better to navigate than the checkbox
-
And I pointed this out in the previous branch snaps but it needs to be mentioned again, locking the addressbar with a
min-height
makes it ugly since it doesn't scale properly. Here's an example with a vanilla vs my modded version at 90%
