Vivaldi keeps asking to login with Google
-
Hello folks!
Everytime I open the browser it ask me to login with Google. When the browser is open it keeps asking to login from time to time. How can I disable it? This is a very annoying behavior.
Thanks
-
@glaucomachado clear your browser cookies. Then log in to whatever Google services or accounts your various open tabs are trying to access.
-
@Ayespy thank you
-
I tend to have over 100 tabs open so searching through each to find which ones have interacted with Google is going to be a total pain in the RS
I'm afraid my solution is far more drastic.
I'm going to DUMP vivialdi as I'm completely feed up with this constant request to login to google even after I do login it still continues to request I login.
So sorry, GOODBYE to Vivildi -
@BluePukeko, more likely you've connected Vivaldi to your Google/GMail account for either email or calendar, and you have asked Vivaldi to use OAuth for your Gmail account. Logging in once should be enough.
If you keep seeing the OAuth prompt frequently, it could also be that you have revoked Vivaldi's access in the Google account settings, which can cause it to appear frequently as well.
-
I have the same problem. Vivaldi asks for confirmation to access the Googlemail account every time I start it when I use OAuth. I have already cleared cookies and also removed access to the Google account and then set everything up again. However, Vivaldi still wants to authenticate OAuth every time I start it. Does anyone else have an idea?

Same problem here. Can't use Vivaldi until this is fixed.
Running 6.4.3160.33 (Official Build) (64-bit) -
@esasse When you get the prompt, do you log in or dismiss the dialog?
If you do the latter, the dialog will keep appearing, so log in or go to Settings > Mail / Calendar and review the accounts there. Take the accounts you don't use offline or remove them altogether. -
@jane-n I when I get the prompt I log in, but I keep getting every single time I open Vivaldi. One time I dismissed and the account was removed.
-
@esasse That shouldn't happen. Please report the issue on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ and let me know the bug number you get.
-
@jane-n I removed all accounts, re-added them, and it's not happening anymore. I'll report if it comes back, thanks!

not happening to me but i thought vivaldi had its own native sync and completely blocked google collecting anything
-
@mikeyb2001 Vivaldi does have its own sync, which does not connect to Google in any way whatever.
If you sign in to a Google service with Vivaldi, however, Google will collect your data.

Which cookies need to be cleared?
Don't want to delete all the cookies I have.
That would be a PITA
-
@brucedenney For what purpose? To get Google to remember you are logged in?
-
@Ayespy To stop it asking me to log in every day.
Would also be nice if I could stop it asking for precise location.
These are the only 2 bugbears I have.
-
@brucedenney I don't know about the "asking for precise location" bit. I've not run into that.
I haven't had Google ask me to sign into anything for the last few months. You probably have about 18 Google cookies. You might try deleting those, and then just signing in to the various Google services as you need them, and see if the cookies persist like they're supposed to.
-
I'm pretty sure the prompt for Google login is caused by the 3rd party sign in under site settings. I set mine to blocked and so far the popups have stopped. Before I blocked it it also showed the sites that had been popping up were listed there.

Vivaldi now asks me to sign into Gmail each time I use it now. Never did this before.

Hi,
Which, of the mentioned fixes in the Topic, have you followed?
