New problem with ExpressVPN
-
I use a normal PC with Win 10 Home OS. A few days ago I acquired the Express VPN desktop app. Later I installed the browser extension for Vivaldi browser (browser v. 5.7.2921.53). For some reason, no webpage could then be opened when the VPN was in use ("This site can't be reached" or some similar message), independent of the location chosen. The same happens even without the browser extension, I noticed; even using only the desktop app. I'd be glad of some explanation.

Hi, I use only the desktop app but no issues with Vivaldi 5.7.2921.53 on Windows 11 Pro.
Location is Berlin but connected to US:Do you use a third party security software/firewall?
I am on olde Defender.
Was it working with Vivaldi 5.6?Cheers, mib

Thanks for the answer. I don't know about Vivaldi 5.6, since I have had the VPN only a few days, and with the current Vivaldi version. I have in fact a free version of Panda Dome as security, it hasn't caused any trouble I'd noticed.

These AV software whitelist the big 4, Chrome, Firefox and so forth but not Vivaldi.
Can you open pages without ExpressVPN?
You can try to disable Panda for a test but mostly you really have to remove it to be absolute sure.
Maybe another user have some ideas but AV software and extensions makes the most trouble for Vivaldi, I fear.Cheers, mib

Without ExpressVPN I have had no problems opening webpages, with Vivaldi or any other browser. I can try disabling Panda, I just have gotten used to it and been not so sure that Window's own security programs were enough.

They are, since a few years.
If you don´t have special needs for a security software the Mircosoft one is always in the top 3 of all tests, I use it since 10 years or so.
You VPN adds an extra step to security, too.
Anyway, you can reinstall it if is not the issues and you are familiar and satisfied with it.Cheers, mib
