What happened to the dropdown arrow history? This is the main reason I switched to Vivaldi.
-
I have the same problem exactly! It's there but grey and inactive so I can't use it and this is the crucial reason I switched to Vivaldi and been using it. Hopefully it will be back, otherwise this browser is no longer an option..

@Cefales
Hi, I guess this is a bug caused by a last minute fix for the address bar. There are some threads already about.
I will flag you post, then a mod can merge these threads in to one.Cheers, mib

I just downloaded v 5.6.
Before I had "T" mapped to opening a new tab.
It would open a new tab and select the URL. (I disabled auto focusing on body for new tabs I think.)
I've also set the new tab page to load Google.com
I could then either hit Enter and it would focus in the Google search box, or type a URL to go to. I don't search from the search bar b/c Vivaldi doesn't offer Google suggestions, so this set-up is the best compromise I found.
Version 5.6 no longer selects the URL when opening a new tab. It places the caret (blinking cursor) at the end of the URL field. So, if I want to go to a URL, I now have to first hit Ctrl+A to select and then type the URL.
Is there a workaround? Can the old behavior be restored?
Thank you - using Vivaldi on Windows 10

Hello,
Since the update to version 5.6.2867.36, the address dropdown (history) no longer works. The arrow (down) on the right side of the address field is always greyed out, no matter what URLs I enter. I haven't changed anything in the settings. That was still possible in the old Vivaldi version. This is probably a bug I think.
I have this error on all computers that have updated to the new version.Thanks and regards

@mib2berlin
Typed history should be removed from the Browsing data deletion. Could you let the developers know? -
@lamantin
Hi, no it does not working like this and many user would complain why it is not deleted.
It should be a separate checkbox for history and typed history.
You can create a feature request or report it as bug.
Sometimes a bug report is changed to a request but the developer are so busy with real bugs I would not bet for it.Cheers, mib

As we have been reworking the URL bar, we got some bugs. This will be resolved.

I have the same problem.

Many things seem to be not tested enough. Thrown in and go.
Please concentrate on making current things stable and useful, add no more stuff in between. -
problem!! please do rollback in address string/ dropdown arrow
-
Same problem in v 5.6.2867.36, please fix this.
Is there a safe way to downgrade Vivaldi to get this back? -
@maci007
Hi and no, you cant downgrade Vivaldi without break you profile.
You can install 5.5 as standalone and copy your actual profile over, this is also not the best but you don´t touch your 5.6 profile.
Or install and sync if you use sync is the clean way.https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/install-update/standalone-version-of-vivaldi/

EDIT: There is a new bug report about the issue: VB-93559 -
@bariton I have similar feelings to yours. I created a thread on the forum today because I wanted to raise this topic in a broader context, unfortunately no one has commented so far. Maybe you'd like to add your own comments?

This bug makes me regret updating. It completely breaks the way I use my browser. I'm sure a lot of people won't care but for me this is extremely annoying as I have to retrain years of habits.
I'm going to revert to an older version and I'd rather turn off updates completely than risk having this happen again. Why are you pushing bugged updates?
-
Please fix the addressbar dropdown. It is one of the primary reasons I use this browser.

Please concentrate on making current things stable and useful, add no more stuff in between.Right. They release all they have, it's not even beta quality, it's a complete trash. Vivaldi is the most bugged browser now. And not since the last update.
But they don't care about that and the last update is enough proof. More important thing for the Vivaldi Team is to put some new colors or a new calendar - with no respect for users. They lie, when they call an update like this "stable". I have to reinstall my browser, because I can't work anymore. -
Hi there,
yesterday I updated to Vivaldi 5.6.2867.36 (Stable channel) (64-Bit) and since then my address bar doesn't work like it did before. If I open a new tab with CTRL + T, in the past I could immediately start typing, because the whole URL from my startpage was marked. Now the cursor stays at the end of the URL, which causes me to mark the whole thing by myself before I can start typing...
Why is this and please fix this behaviour, it's completely useless for me right now, because I have to put effort and more time in this. I already tried to check and de-check the address bar focus option in the settings.
Has anyone an idea how to fix this?
