Vivaldi 5.6 RC 1 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 2867.32/34
-
Hi All,
Just when I thought the windows snapshot version of the vivaldi browser couldn't get any better this snapshot has proved me incorrect yet again, even to the point (and I DO realize this will in fact grab some negativity from some users) of changing my default browser because it seemingly continues to become 'overloaded' with what I consider un-needed items that just take up space. -

Typed-URL dropdown list from address bar is gone!
Sadly, even in the stable.
I've got a lot complicated urls for testing each day and this makes it a showstopper.
Have to use some different browser until this is fixed..... -

Hi,
Did a Profile Backup before update? If so,
You can install V 5.5 in USB format and put there a copy of that backup.
Don't downgrade or do a current backup if you don't have a 5.5 backup and want to do it anyway.--
"Off Topic Tip"
Follow the Signature's Backup | Reset link.
Take the opportunity to start a Backup plan and even create a Template Profile.

@zalex108:
Thank you for your tip.I downgraded via package manager a few hours ago and fixed the version.
Worked well without a profile backup.
Introduces the risk of exploits, but for a short while a better option then doing productive work in my spare browser, hoping the issue is addressed soon.Backups are always good to have.

@eini With downgrade you mean via linux package manager?
In that case, a downgrade is actually an uninstallation + installation of an older version (which is safe).
Which is not safe, is copying over a profile from a different version (not for exploits, but for profile correct behaviour). -
