Trouble adding tasks in Tasks Panel
-
Why I cannot add a task?
After I enter the information and clicked on the "Done" button, there have nothing appear in the tasks panel. -
@41196545 Clicking on DONE means that you have completed the task. Just press Enter to complete the entry.
At the bottom of the Task Panel, to show all tasks, enable:
Show Completed Tasks -
@Pesala The task does not appear when I press enter too, and there have nothing show after I checked the box "Show Completed Tasks".
-
@41196545 Did you type a title for the task?
-
@Pesala Yes.

Can you add tasks in the main Calendar window (create a new event and tick the box "Is a task")?
-
Exactly the same for me (version 5.6.2867.62): Neither tasks nor the calendar can be created.
Additional question: Is there a shortcut to move a message to the trash?
-
The same Problem in 5.7.2921.53 (Stable channel) (64-bit) , except that now the input window no longer closes after clicking "Done".
-
@BYVivaldi, please describe what you do to add a task step-by-step, so we could follow the same steps and see whether we can reproduce the issue on our side.
-
Click on "Task" - enter "Test", click on "Fertig": Nothing happens, window remains open, task is not created, same behavior when creating in the calendar
-
@BYVivaldi I'm unable to reproduce the issue.
Can you share information about your environment?
- Operating system
- Vivaldi version you've already shared, but doesn't hurt to repeat to have it all in one comment.
- Are you adding the task to a local calendar or an online calendar. In case it's an online calendar, who is the service provider and do they support tasks?
-
Hi Jane,
here are the dates you want:-
Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2, Build 19045.2604
-
Vivaldi 5.7.2921.53 (Stable channel) (64-Bit)
-
Local calendar
Thank you for your efforts

Thanks.
Do you see any errors in the Calendar Logs or in the Console?
Click the Calendar button on the Status Bar and go to Logs view.
To open the Console, click on ️ in the top right corner of the same Calendar logs view and select View Logs or go to vivaldi://inspect/#apps, where you need to click on "Inspect" below the line ending in /browser.html and then go to Console view. -
After "save", 2 errors occur:
-
@BYVivaldi These errors suggest there might be some problem with the database used to store the events in Vivaldi.
Is it possible for you to create regular events in the calendar? That is opening "vivaldi://calendar" or the calendar panel and create new event there without checking the "Is a Task" box.
-
Is it possible to repair the database?
-
@BYVivaldi A few users have reported cases like this where the database file gets corrupted throwing errors when writing to it. We have not been able to reproduce and so do not know how or why it happens, and unfortunately do not have a fix for it.
The simplest solution is to delete / remove the database file and then it will start fresh. This is not a big problem for those who use online calendars, they will be synced again and things get back to normal. It is a bigger problem for users like you with local calendars. What you can try to do is export the data from the calendar(s) you have, reset the database, and then import the data again.
To do this you go to Calendar section in settings select the calendar and click Export button. Repeat for each calendar if you have more than one. Then open your profile folder, if you don't know the path then you can find it on the about page (via About Vivaldi from main menur or "vivaldi://about" URL), and move the calendar database file from there to a safe place so you still have the data in case this goes wrong. Make sure Vivaldi is shut down before moving the database file. Finally restart Vivaldi and import the exported data from step 1 using Import command from File menu.
Hope this will help you.

your tip worked, thanks
-
@BYVivaldi Great that your problem is solved. Bad that you had to jump through hoops to fix it.
We will continue to try and improve Vivaldi. Thank you very much for taking the time to write and follow up on the problem, much appreciated.

This was also my very first experience with trying to use tasks after enabling them. I am not trying to use the calendar and have never used it, I was just trying to create a task and it's not creating one.
