In this video, see that I click on a message and on the right side of the screen I keep moving the mouse, look at the time it takes to be able to visualize a message about 10 seconds.
I also tried with Hotmail and Gmail they are all slow
But if I configure by Mozilla Thunderbird is super fast about only 1 second to open.

@lucianof
Hi, I use Yahoo IMAP and and mails open < 1 second.
Do you run a AVirus software?
On a friends PC Avast block even to add a new account.
Please add your Vivaldi, OS version.Cheers, mib

I use Kaspersky
but I tested now closing Kaspersky and it didn't solve
Vivaldi 5.4.2753.47 (Stable channel) (64 bit)
Windows 10 21H2 -
@lucianof
Hm, sometimes disable the AV software is not enough, they still lurking in the background.
Some user report reinstall of Vivaldi help if an AV software block or slowdown Vivaldi.
Your user data are not touched with a reinstall, except you choose "Delete user data" during uninstall.
I never read about slow loading of mails in Vivaldi, strange.Cheers, mib

Is it because my message box is giant I have yahoo for over 10 years and with over 10,000 messages
-
@lucianof
Yes, if fetching is not finished.
I had some problems with Offline viewing enable, I disabled it.Cheers, mib
-
In fact, unchecking this option made it faster.
But if I uncheck this option, it will not be possible to search ?
-
@lucianof
If I understand this correctly you can not search in the mail body if the mail was not viewed, only in the address and subject.
I use search very often and cant see any difference.
If I view a mail and it is not important for me I delete it permanently anyway but I know some user keep all mails.
Maybe @WildEnte or one of the mail developer can shed some light on the matter.Cheers, mib

Anyway, here is the report of a problem with Vivaldi's email
This must be improved
developers should better test email with 20,000+ messages -
@lucianof
Then report it to the Vivaldi bug tracker, iirc the GEO of Vivaldi spoke of 50000 mails he store but maybe he does not download.For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-). Thanks.
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.Cheers, mib

I just posted the bug VB-91660

I think I understand why Mozilla thunderbird is much faster
it is configured to download all messages including the message body.I don't know how to configure this in vivaldi because I believe it only downloads the message header and the message body only downloads when I click on the header to see the message.
-
@lucianof You can select, in any account you set up in Vivaldi, the option to "Download messages for offline viewing and searching." This downloads the entire message body when fetching the email from the server. That's how I have mine set up. Of course that means I have a 66GB mail store, but storage space is the price one pays for instant access...
-
It doesn't seem that this option does that, because it was activating it that I posted the video and that took a long time.
Disabling this option made it faster.
as I showed in the video.

@lucianof I find the opposite. Enabling download for offline makes message access fast here, and disabling it makes message access sometimes take forever. Once you DO enable to option, it can take hours or days for all message bodies to be downloaded. I take that into account. Once that is accomplished, then all bodies are made immediately available on an ongoing basis.

I already left it activated for about 1 month before this topic.
unfortunately Vivaldi has a lot to improve because I installed Mozilla thunderbird and downloaded all messages in 6 hours
-
@lucianof
Hi, I watch the bug you had reported, I will keep you posted.Cheers, mib

@lucianof It would appear something is wrong with your install, or your web connection.
It took me something over 12 hours (because it did not run continuously) to download all of a quarter-million emails in six accounts. Now I have instant access to every one of these emails.
