Uninstall guilt-trip demeans everyone
-
I was doing some software testing for web browsers and upon removing Vivaldi on a VM I had a browser window pop up.
I've always hated when this happened. It used to be irritating because I used Opera 12 which took two minutes to start up on my ancient computer, but I've never come around to accepting it even when I moved onto stronger hardware. It's software stealing focus to demand your attention, the same way an advert would. It's always been an overreach and I've always hated it.Now take a look at Vivaldi's:
https://vivaldi.com/uninstall/feedback/?hl=en-us&version=5.4.2753.47&os=W6.1.7601Call it tongue-in-cheek, but this is a guilt-trip. It demeans both Vivaldi and the user. It is entirely unnecessary (think -- what purpose does it actually serve?) and makes Vivaldi leadership look insecure and desperate.
I reckon we're better than this.

@5eagull Such page exists since years after uninstall. There is a a reason, why the devs have done this.
//EDIT: As i remember from the past, the uninstall page had some feedback fields to give the dev team a feedback why users had uninstalled. -
@5eagull Minor grievance and not a big deal. The only aspect I take issue with is this part:
(and frankly we don’t care)
It’s never a good idea to state that you don’t care, even if it makes sense in this case. It’s superfluous.

Show me where I said that.

@5eagull I don’t have to show you anything. You have to realize I only added something I think isn’t right. It’s clear you never stated it, or I wouldn’t have mentioned it. The page itself doesn’t bother me.

What an utterly baffling statement.

@5eagull If you and many other users think such uninstall page has to be removed, please read Request New Feature, open forum Feature Requests and post request.

@5eagull You seem to be easily baffled. Can’t help you there.
