Whatsapp web on web panel became extremely slow

@barbudo2005 Why did you skiip update to 5.4.2753.40?
And i remember some issue with videos was fixed in a 5.5 Snapshot.
-
Thank you.
Yes I am on 5.4.2753.37 (Stable channel) (64-bit). I will update. -
The problem with video is still present with 5.4.2753.40 (Stable channel) (64-bit) .
-
I reported now to bug tracker:
VB-91338 "WhatsApp in webpanel renders slow or freezes and has delayed interaction" - Confirmed.I hope the devs will test and investigate.
-
@barbudo2005 Sad, that update did not help.
-
Same here.
Since yesterday it started to run slow.
It take like minutes to give me back the action to post a message for example.I don't think it is related to the new Vivaldi version because I updated on Aug 24th and the issue started today.

@DoctorG I think it is a common mistake to use high hardware resources, I think that an application like a Browser depends on a graphics card with certain features, Processor, etc, etc, is the worst business, it is easy to test with a hardware with high resources, the ideal is that it works on any computer, if not then send to buy all, with high graphics cards, Unfortunately more and more people will attest to what I say, if they do not want to see it, because they are using high hardware, they should always test with low resource users, then they will realize if an application is slow or not.
-
@mib2berlin Well yes, as I once left Opera to use Vivaldi because it met all my work and personal expectations, on my phone, on servers, on my laptop and on my desktop with Linux, today unfortunately Vivaldi and the side panel, are making my life impossible, especially with the slowness with which Vivaldi works, it's amazing how they can spoil a browser, for "better features", I think you should never lose the north of what a browser is, well yes, everything makes me think that returning to Opera is the best decision.
-
@nellmf Nothing works slow here. Nothing. Most of the "spoilage" users complain of stems from things added to or hung on Vivaldi and/or the operating system, and with the millions of users and a small team, Vivaldi literally cannot account for every extraneous influence users introduce.
Vivaldi simply can't stay compatible with or build patches for EVERY hanger-on that users "need." One time it's changes in Youtube, another it's bad code sent by Facebook, another it's one or two or three of the quarter-million extensions clogging the web, and another it's a site that works just fine as a tab and can't work right as a panel. Then Vivaldi patches clean up all the above, ships an update, and a 3rd-party "anti-virus" app doesn't recognize the new Vivaldi code and slows it to a crawl or blocks it, as "unknown, un-trusted."
And every time, users blame Vivaldi because, somehow, their usage is the "most important" kind of usage, and every update should have been re-factored to take their particular use-case into account.
Hard to say why whatsapp (which I will not touch with a ten-foot pole) is broken as a panel But since 27% of web users (and probably 15% of Vivaldi users) use it, the problem is likely to get diagnosed and Vivaldi, once again, re-written to accommodate a minority of users.

@Ayespy As a software developer with more than 15 years, the answer you give is just simplistic and away from the real use for users, it simply means that the releases are not tested according to the reality of the user, it is a pity as they spoiled a good browser, if they do not want to realize this, put all right, options exist for that. Vivaldi is simply frighteningly slow and in computers with few resources simply does not work, test and use Vivaldi with high performance video cards or a high midrange processor, is not a valid test, it is silly to test with hardware that you know you will not have problems, for a browser or application in general does not have these problems, simply should be tested in all lines, from the lowest to the highest resources, but it seems that the Vivaldi team has simply decided to develop for those users with high performance equipment. If you haven't checked from yesterday to today, I've seen about 20 people with the same issue, if you don't want to see it, that's fine by them, but that doesn't take away from the fact that with every release, Vivaldi is heading towards making the same mistake as Edge, even Opera at the time.

Same for me, super frustrating. WhatsApp i a MAIN communication platform in my area.
Hope it will get fixed soon@DoctorG Thanks for reporting
Any chance you can share where we can see that bug? -
@JustABrowser58, @xmfreak, @VictorPenha
hello and welcome here!
Have fun with the browser and in the forum. -
So many problems with 'WhatsApp'.
Really so excited about it?
Ever looked at open source 'Jabber/XMPP' messenger?
Think much better and more secure.
It's available as a website, for Linux, Windows, Apple and Android. -
@dehyde The bug tracker is for internal team only.
if you need status of a bug, ask me my chat or at What is the status of VB (=already reported bug/issue)? -
@xmfreak I tested Telegram Web on a web panel vs on a tab and found that it is slightly faster in the latter, although the difference is much smaller than my experience with WhatsApp Web. So, there is a difference between using websites in a web panel vs a tab, but I guess the difference depends on how optimised the website is (something I can barely say for WhatsApp Web).

@nellmf
Hi, the Vivaldi testers test on different systems with low up to high resources, some have very old equipment.
Vivaldi have problems with WhatsApp at moment, the developer are aware of the problem and will fix this.
The resources of Vivaldi and Edge are similar on my system for example:Cheers, mib

Vivaldi runs wonderfully for me in a more than 20 (!) year old labtop with Linux.
The problem is once again with WhatsApp, as can be seen above.
Vivaldi now has to upgrade again because WhatsApp has changed something. -
Calling these that needs to use Whatsapp as minority is really weird imo... it is basically most used messenger in the world.
The question that should be made is why others browsers based in the same Chromium engine are working fine and Vivaldi not? Put the blame in the website when all others browsers didn't have any issue looks to me very selfish.

@Yukora Serveral threads on Whatsapp issue were merged into this thread.

@ingolftopf Correct dear, to say that it is a minority is not knowing what a minority means, even sounds even derogatory comment, but nothing to do, the truth is that Vivaldi does a poor job with the side panel and its integrations, at this point Opera and although it hurts, is quite ahead, there are no problems with WhatsApp in Opera, if perhaps use different technologies or panel engine is different, but of the things that are failing this is one.
