Solved [Solved - Local Issue] Lists are not rendered as lists
-
Edit: Solution
The problem was caused by an ePub Reader extension. Removing it solved the issue and lists are now rendered as expected.
Expected Behavior
I would expect the following behavior to be observable on the Vivaldi-Forum in the Vivaldi-Browser:
- Formatting a list in Markdown (using e. g.
-
at the start of lines) results in a List being rendered. - Nesting Lists (indenting the nested list with e. g. 4 spaces) causes this nested list to be rendered visibly nested
Actual Behavior
In Vivaldi, the list bullets (/discs) are cut off due to a lack of padding to the left, and there is no indentation either due to a lack of padding.
Vivaldi:
Other Browsers (Screenshot taken using Firefox, Tested as well with Edge and Opera):
The screenshots were taken using the Thread "Automatically add a Reminder when accepting an Invitation" in the Calender Feature Request Section of this Forum.
Note: The HTML List elements are properly generated, but the rendering (due to the defined CSS) doesn't cause the list to be rendered as a list:
The offending CSS seems to be the Browser-Default CSS
padding: 0px;
:
This overrides another Browser-Default CSSpadding-inline-start: 40px;
:
I'm not aware of using any plugins that could interfere with this behavior, but I'll check if any of the plugins installed could have an effect later on. If at all, this would only have an effect on the top layer of the list, since the nested lists are also in other browsers not rendered as expected.
Possible Solution
Explicitly define the indentation values (i. e. the
padding
) forul
andol
(didn't test ordered lists and their behavior yet). - Formatting a list in Markdown (using e. g.

Ok, I can mark this topic already as resolved: it was one of the installed extensions (an epub reader extension). x.x

Works in my internal 5.5:
See:- a

Is this code:

Oh!

@RichardWepnerPD Please post a markdown code in code box with </> button.
I want to check what's wrong. -
@DoctorG: First of all it seems like I have to correct my initial message by a bit: nested lists aren't rendered properly for me in Vivaldi, but are rendered properly in other Browsers. (It seems I was looking at a nested list in one thread in Vivaldi, but only at the regular list in the other Browsers.)
The examples you gave don't work for me in Vivaldi (but do work in Firefox):
Honestly, this looks even more to me like this might be a local issue (i. e. I really should check the plugins currently active).
The Code in the linked thread:
## Actual Behavior Currently, the following things are present: - The Settings contain a section "calender editing" where default reminders can be configured (see e. g. the screenshot below) - New entries in the Calendar are created with the default reminder (settings) configured - Invitations accepted (e. g. received via Mail in the Mail view) appear in the Calendar, but without a reminder configured ## Desired Behavior [...]
As mentioned above: I probably was looking at the wrong thread when seeing issues with nested lists, since this message doesn't contain a nested list.
