Solved Privacy Statistics - A Privacy Breach?
-
@Pesala Yes, it is a good idea to tell users the traps not having all privacy they wish and think about.
-
Would clearing the cache, history, and form data not solve that problem?
-
@Streptococcus The problem is not that Vivaldi stores the data, but that it is rather too easy to discover by accident.
For example, suppose a guy is shopping online for an engagement ring. His GF, with whom he lives, opens the privacy statistics dialog out of curiosity and sees a well-known jewellery site in the history of sites where ads have been blocked.

@Pesala
I do not believe that uBlock Origin records sites whose ads have been blocked, just how many items in a subscription list have been used. Maybe the solution is to use uBlock Origin rather than Vivaldi to block ads (which is what I am doing). -

@Pesala Well, don't share your computer
Or if you do, use different user accounts, not that hard to set up
I would agree with the latter; use the tried and tested user account management features of the OS to protect the data.

Exactly what I'd recommend.

Everyone is missing the point here. It is just shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.
I am sure that many who share a PC with family members already use separate user account.
This is a privacy issue for those who do not.
