Solved Latest version super unstable
-
I just upgraded Vivaldi to the latest version (from 5.2.something) and I'm not impressed. The new version is really unstable, especially when playing YouTube videos. The video (and the whole machine) freezes periodically (with the sound stuck repeating whatever was in the buffer when it happened) and actually took my entire machine down just now.
Other times tabs will forcibly reload themselves often repeatedly within the space of a few minutes.
This is just horrible.

So it seems the issue was related to HyperV crashing my network card and causing all manner of problems.
I uninstalled that and WSL, and everything seems to be a lot more stable again.
At least I haven't noticed any problems when I was using that machine locally on the weekend.

@CrazyDef Have you tried the Trouble-shooting Steps?
-
@CrazyDef Hello, I have the same problem.
After installing and reinstalling multiple times, both the stable version and the "snapshot" version I'm afraid it's a compatibility issue between Vivaldi, the graphics card, Windows 11 and hardware acceleration.
Try disabling hardware acclereration, although there will be pages that will not load correctly or visually there might be some problems.

@CrazyDef I encountered issues with some VirtualBox or VMWare Worksstation Player having trouble to virtualise correctly GPU and hardware acceleration, resulting in crashes, freezes or slow interaction.
HyperV is not active on my office workstations. -
