What's your ad blocking score?

https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock.html
I'm at 88% on PC using vivaldi's filter lists with sources such as easy privacy, ad guard, and disconnect.
I get 90% on android.https://adblock-tester.com
100% on there! -
@sahands Is 93% good or bad? (uBlock).
Note: Not blocked was amazon - because I allowed for browsing "stuff"Edit:
You added 2nd link!
100% (some tests failed to run; which to me is a win)! -

That page only works with Safari. With the chromium browsers and the Mozilla derived browsers the animation just keeps spinning.
-
@sahands Well...
FF-Nightly [Enhanced Tracking Protection =
Strict-Mode
, + lots of locking-down in myabout:config
, + uBOHard Mode
]:- link 1 = 98%
- link 2 = 100% [NB: Several of the script-tests failed to run coz i globally block JS in uBO, so duh! ... IMO this website is useless by definition for any proactive user who already blocks the nasties]
V-Snappie, Default profile [Block Trackers & Ads =
On
, + Cookies blocked globally, + uBOHard Mode
]:- link 1 = continuously spinning [due to my global-block-cookies setting in this profile]
- link 2 = 80% [NB: Multiple tests failed to run, ofc due to my V & uBO settings, so again IMO this website is useless by definition for any proactive user who already blocks the nasties].
V-Snappie, Session-Wipe profile [Block Trackers & Ads =
On
, + Cookies allowed for session, + History allowed for session]:- link 1 = 91%
- link 2 = 100%
V-Snappie, Guest Session
- link 1 = 10% [
No Blocking
] - link 1 = 47% [
Block Trackers
] - link 1 = 59% [
Block Trackers & Ads
] - link 2 = 36% [
No Blocking
] -- NB: Some tests failed to run. - link 2 = 53% [
Block Trackers
] -- NB: Several tests failed to run. - link 2 = 36% [
Block Trackers & Ads
] -- NB: Multiple tests failed to run.

well we are mainly taking about vivaldi browsers results. You may need to change some of your settings, since it works in vivaldi (chromium based).
If someone gets close to 100% I'd be interested in knowing what filters they have. I'm always looking to harden my ad/tracking-free browsing experience, but not looking to migrate to another browser. -
Today, that page works. It looks completely different. With Safari, everything passes. With Vivaldi, Flash banners, Gif image and Static image failed. I do not even have Flash any more, so have no idea why that would be failing. What do the gif and static images they refer to mean?

static images are the most common forms of ads we see, with gif ads being their annoying moving cousins
eg.

-
@sahands
I am using uBlock Origin. I am not seeing ads with any browsers. With Safari, I had to use AdGuard instead, but both have the same Adblock Plus subscriptions and personal filters. AdGuard lacks the special uBlock filters, but it is blocking ads and other nuisances very well. -

@Streptococcus Those are good ones to have. The nice thing about vivladi is that you don't need to have any extra ad blockers on there, it has built-in ad block capabilities:
vivaldi://settings/privacy/
clicking on manage sources you can add whatever filters that you likeuBlock filter list:
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/tree/master/filters
Adguard filter list:
https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardFilters/tree/master/EnglishFilter/sectionsPersonally I use a mix of filters from uBlock and Adguard.

You're fooling yourself rather substantially if you truly believe that a static green-list-based paradigm can ever compare with a user-configurable dynamic filtering rule-predicated paradigm such as in uBO.
-
And why would you think that those lists are static?
-
@sahands No, you have rather missed the point [including misconstruing the contextual meaning of "static" here]. Vivaldi does not have uBlock Origin's Dynamic filtering capability.
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-quick-guideMoreover, being based on chromium, sadly uBO in V also lacks its full capability as in FF, eg, CNAME-uncloaking https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/uBlock-Origin-works-best-on-Firefox
Wrt V, any current shortcoming of uBO compared to in FF might be moot, given the impending arrival of gargle's Manifest v3.
-
Personally I rarely ever used ublocks' Dynamic filtering, the 3 tier blocking levels that vivaldi already has, works well for me. Therefore I was happy to give up ublock and free up some memory (as you're aware, chrome based browsers can have problems with memory the more extensions you add on). So no I'm not fooling myself.
