Disable escape from exiting full screen
-
How can I stop ESC from exiting full screen. It is irritating while playing games on gforce now. I just sat on the bench in Kingdom Come Deliverence, and only way I can stand up is pressing ESC. I cannot point it with cursor, because mouse movements turn head around, so there is no cursor at this moment of a game, and ESC just triggers exiting full screen and nvidia's message about shutting off the game.
I'm stuck. -
There should be either an option in keyboard shortcuts to define it, or it simply should require pressing F11 as Full Screen Toggle.

@WhiteBlueRibbon I don't understand how this is related to Vivaldi? Are you playing the game in the browser through some page?
Does it work as expected in other browsers? Firefox, Chrome, Opera?
-
@WhiteBlueRibbon F11 already acts as a toggle to enter/leave fullscreen mode.
Esc can be assigned to another command to prevent it working to exit fullscreen.
-
@Pathduck Don't know. I have't tested it yet. I'm using vivaldi for ages.
And yes I'm playing a game through browser using GeForce NOW Nvidia service. It connects to my steam account, and streams a game to my computer. It works flawlessly except this ESC problem. When I press it something (vivaldi) captures it and exits full screen mode, and then nvidia page asks me do I want to exit the game, or return to full screen to continue playing. -
@Pesala Well problem is that there is no assignment "exit full screen mode", that is the whole point. It is not assigned anywhere in the keyboard shortcuts. At least I couldn't find it.
Well...
It was assigned to "stop loading page", and I removed it cause i use it very rearly, but it is not the same functionality.
So at this moment I have no ESC assigned to anything, and it still exists the full screen mode. -
@Pathduck I've tested it in firefox, and firefox doesn't support game streaming technology. And it is the only browser I'm using besides Vivaldi on my linux.
I'll try it in chromium, although I'm hesistant installing another webbrowser... -
yeah, somehow it works with chromium. I mean esc doesn't trigger full screen exit.
Ha! And that is because it asks for press and hold esc to exit full screen, not only press esc to exit full screen. -
@WhiteBlueRibbon said in Disable escape from exiting full screen:
there is no assignment "exit full screen mode"
F11 is a toggle, just like F4 and some other commands.
If you leave Esc assigned to Stop Loading or assign it to some other command, then it won't exit fullscreen. For example, assign Esc to Disable Periodic Timers.

@WhiteBlueRibbon I doubt there's much Vivaldi team can do about this, it's not standard browser behaviour. I suggest you take it up with the Geforce support. Maybe ask on the NVidia forums for workarounds.
Holding down ESC seems to be code they've made specifically on the site, that for some reason does not work in Vivaldi. In Chromium in general it's just a press of ESC to exit full-screen, like on YT for instance, just like in Vivaldi.
A workaround for Vivaldi might be to create the site as an "App", which basically uses Chromium base directly.
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/miscellaneous/progressive-web-apps/@Pesala It's not about browser full-screen (F11) but full-screen like on videos etc.

Thank you for your answer, I might try this app thingie, however now that it works at chromium and I installed it after all, I might just stick with chromium for this.
Thanks anyway.
