Preventing server changing calendar color
-
My ISP has Caldav set up in such a way that I cannot change the color of the calendar attached to my email address.
I want it set to yellow (#dc60a in fact) but every time I set it then it changes back to a headache inducing purple (#641f76 ugh) the next time a sync occurs.
Is there a setting that I can use to prevent the server overriding the color I have chosen in Vivaldi?
I hope so
And, by way of a PS, I am liking the new email and calendar in Vivaldi A LOT. After a week of experimentation, Vivaldi is now what I am using 100% of the time - even with a purple calendar!

@owenkelly Unfortunately it is not possible to override calendar color from server locally.
The idea is that when you change the color in Vivaldi that change is synced to the server and updated there. Calendar color however is not covered in the iCalendar standard and the implementation is very server dependent, and may also be disabled on the server. So it could be that the server in question is not supported for us, you wouldn't happen to know what server implementation is being used?
This is something that a few users have mentioned so it may be worth while to add the option to not sync calendar color.
Very glad to hear that you like Vivaldi and find it useful.

As far as I understand the Caldav calendar on my ISP server comes from cPanel and uses Roundcube as an interface. In talking to support at GreenGeeks I was told that they would need to add an extension to enable me to change calendar colors and create new calendars and they could not do that on shared servers.
Adding an option to not sync calendar colors would be a perfect solution, assuming it is reasonably simple at your end. I have an Android app Davx5 on my phone to take care of syncing caldav to Android and that has an option "Manage Calendar Colors" that ignores the color sent from the server if you switch it off. So my calendar happily remains the yellow I crave on my phone
And I am finding Vivaldi much more than useful. It is exactly what I have been looking for!
