Google "Invalid Credentials (Failure) 12:12:39.072"

So I stand corrected. I was able to use password without having set up app-password online in my Google account. Google killed that, and I switched to OAuth. Maybe I will go online and set up app-password if I get time, and switch back. Except/unless that requires 2FA - because I find 2FA to be a complete and utter pain in the ass. I hate sites that impose it on me, and enact it every time Vivaldi updates (which for me is daily) because after each update Vivaldi is a "new and untrusted" login origin point.

I tried to connect my gmail to the Vivaldi Mail software and- 'credentials not accepted'. I tried OAuth and regular password methods.
I got a nice email from Google (on Apple Mail software) saying "Vivaldi was granted access to your Google Account". But Vivaldi software says 'not accepted'.
But Vivaldi software can't accept my Vivaldi edress either. So far it accepts nothing. I just got all this stuff in the last hour so maybe my Vivaldi email isn't fully recognized yet.
I'm impressed with the helpful suggestions here!

@tswell It sounds as though your mail is broken, or you are doing something other than the normal procedure. I have over 21 instances of Vivaldi installed, and all of them log in to my Vivaldi account, all three of my GMail accounts, and my personal domain account. There is no general or usual reason why this should not work.

@Ayespy …
Yes, I agree that it should work. Seven other accounts with 6 other providers work in two other email programs and some webmail sites.On the Mac, email accounts are recorded in Internet Accounts, a part of System Preferences. When that fails, no email program can register the account. Trying to enter the Vivaldi account fails with "Unable to verify account name or password." I've had this account 7 hours now so I expect Vivaldi has had time to activate it. Oh, and I got a 'Welcome to Vivaldi' email at my backup edress 7 hours ago.
Note that my gmail account is already active and working with other software, but Vivaldi software can't recognize that either. I'm also unable to use Vivaldi webmail because a pop-up window insists that I provide a phone number. A very strange requirement!
-
@tswell You do have to provide a mobile number to activate a Vivaldi webmail account. This is a requirement for webmail and blog users, as an anti-spam precaution. I didn't realize you had never activated your webmail and blogging privileges.

@Ayespy
I guess I'll have to do without webmail. -
@Ayespy
I shouldn't bother you now with my problem. I can try again in a week or a month. I'm sure you guys are very busy with the new Mail debugging. Meanwhile I'll explore the site and the rest of the software.Thanks, see you soon!

After logging in with OAuth to gmail I get the "Incoming server attributes missing" error. Any idea of what is missing here?

@jmirap
Hi, I add my Gmail account on a clean profile a few minutes ago.One user report the same but readding the account work but the Google calendar fail with the same error.
On a new profile all was working.
You can simply rename your profile folder "Default", Vivaldi create a new profile with the next start.
Check if mail work.
If you use sync it is easy to get your new profile working.The path to the profile is published in File > Help > About
Cheers, mib
