Default Search engine stuck on Bing and I can't change it
-
How do I change my default search engine?
-
If you have recently upgraded to 5.3 and have a problem where you cannot change search engines (VB-89670), we are still planning a fix for this in a future update. To work around it in the mean time, just disable and immediately re-enable any extensions you have installed that can configure/setup search (.e.g. “DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials”, “Startpage — Private Search Engine”, “Kagi Search”, etc.). Now restart the browser. You should then be able to control the default search engine again in Settings.

Wow that was quick - and it worked too! Thank you, Doc!

Hi There,
I'm facing the same Bug.
But the mentioned Workaround won't do it.
I go to Extensions Settings, disable DuckDuckGo, enable it, close the Browser and start it again.
Bing is still standard and it won't change any settings.
Are there any other tipps, to get rid of Bing as default? -

@Cetheus
Hi, choose DDG as default search engine, add anything in the image search field, choose DDG as image search engine > delete Bing.Cheers, mib

It doesn't change anything.
Just to let you see what I did:
https://youtu.be/Rnzx3Y9P9g8As you can see, my Image Search is not Bing anymore.
Still I'm not able to change the default search engine by any means. -
@Cetheus
Hm, I guess this or another extension cause this, disable all, restart Vivaldi and try again.
This is on a clean profile, no extensions:Cheers, mib

Thank you for this hint. It was indeed the DuckDuckGo-Extension.
Even if I remove bing, it reappears as default when the extension is active.
