Ah, you want to remove the entire image search field, this is not possible but ...
Choose another search engine, type somewhat bogus like https://api.qwant.com/v3/s
in the image search field, make it your default search engine and remove Google and Bing.

Why do I need a image search to start with? Why am I being force to have something on my browser I never asked for was not asked if I want it? Do I need to find a new browser since this one is obviously going the same way as firefox?

So you are stating that Vivaldi is going to be just like FireFox?

No but Vivaldi have 100´s of features you may not need but you cant remove them, simply don´t use it.

Why? And why was I told by Vivladis official Twitter account that things like this would not happen? Are you a Vivaldi employee and does your statements fully represent the opinions of Vivaldi?

May I still not understand what you meant with "things like this would not happen?".
You can remove Google and Bing as search engines, regular and image search but you cant remove the image search itself.
I am not a Vivaldi employee only user since version 0.9 beta or so.

I was told that there would be no feature that would be forced and could not be turned off. This looks like one.

Now you are saying that I can remove them and only have duckduckgo? Odd you were saying something different before.

Choose DDG as search engine > fill image search with 12345 > choose DDG as image search engine > remove all other engines you not need/like.

Then we get back to the post above your first post.

                              Known issue
If you have recently upgraded to 5.3 and have a problem where you cannot change search engines (VB-89670), we are still planning a fix for this in a future update. To work around it in the mean time, just disable and immediately re-enable any extensions you have installed that can configure/setup search (.e.g. “DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials”, “Startpage — Private Search Engine”, “Kagi Search”, etc.). Now restart the browser. You should then be able to control the default search engine again in Settings.

Disable all extensions, enable it again, restart Vivaldi.

What the post that does nothing to help me and only shows that vivaldi is going the way of firefox and forcing users to have useless, unnecessary, and unwanted features that can not be turned off even though this was a major reason a lot of users left firefox for vivaldi? Is this a official statement from Vivaldi with you being their representative?

I found a Fix. A permanent one too. The Moderator even says that the inability to delete of the image search is a over site.

                                        Hello all,
i can't change default search engine. It defaults to Yahoo for me and no matter how i try to change it (drop down menu or the checkbox after selecting the engine) it always gets back to yahoo. Are there any workarounds for this (like editing config file directly)?
