Solved Remove "Add Link to Reading List" from Context Menu (rtclick on link)
-
How can I remove the Add Link to Reading List option from the context menu, ie, the menu that appears when you right click on a link in a web page?
I take it that this is put there by Vivaldi itself, not an extension? It's there with all extensions disable. It hasn't been there forever, or I'd be used to it. I am apparently used to Open Link in New Tab being at the top of the right-click-on-a-link context menu, because that's what I want to click on but due to muscle memory I'm clicking on Add Link to Reading List.

It was added in the latest Vivaldi update.
You can remove it, or move it, by going to Settings > Appearance > Menu. Choose "Link" in the Menu Customization box, and then you can edit that menu to look however you want.

Thanks. It worked fine. Instead of deleting it I moved it down to the bottom of the category it was in.

I think it is a bit weird that they put it at the top of the right-click menu like that, and not further down by the bookmarking option or something. Makes much more sense to have it there...

Bit slow to update here, I usually avoid until I know I have time to deal with any fixes of things that may change.
The fix above seems to have broken my context menu.
Had already been using a slightly reordered context menu with <open in background tab> up top, so I first tried moving it as suggested, but then found one of the context menu options wasn't correlating to the correct action.
So I tried clicking the [Restore Default Menu] button (underneath the settings > appearance > menu > link ) to fix, which oddly moved the reading list function to the middle of the context menu list (in what I feel is a more fitting place anyway!), then I moved the <open link in background tab> context item back to the top where I need it to be.
Unfortunately while it appears this way in the settings menus, when you actually go to use the context menu the <open link in background tab> item is missing, and instead the <open link in new tab> appears at the top, but instead functions as the <open link in background tab>.
Haven't tried too much yet, but after I post this I may try disabling extensions as a couple do appear in the context menu and may be causing issues with the reset function?
That said, I'm guessing a full profile/browser reset/reinstall may be the solution, but I'll leave that for another day, don't want to get into the backing up my custom theme and other things I've forgotten may not sync rabbit hole (I get anxiety over browser resets as not everything always backs up, vivaldi sync did not back up themes as far as I can remember?) But for now at least the first context item functions as I need it to even if it's mislabeled.
So yeah, possibly devs should look at the [restore to default] function under settings > appearance > menu > link
Even with the few niggles, I still have so much trouble adapting to browser functionality that deviates from Operas legacy
