Solved Syntax for Site Search with Ecosia
-
The syntax to use Google search is, I believe:
https://www.google.com/search?q=%s+site:mywebsite.com
How can I set up a site-specific search using Ecosia (or DuckDuckGo)?
-
@pesala If you encode the "
:
" it seems to work.https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s+site%3Aaimwell.org
-
https://google.com/search?q=%s+site:aimwell.org
works fine, buthttps://duckduckgo.com/search?q=%s+site:aimwell.org
leads to a page for removing extensions. What's up? -
This string seems to work OK for my website:
https://www.ecosia.org/search?q=%s+site:aimwell.org
-
For Duckduckgo, this is what I am using: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s
I am not using Ecosia.
-
@streptococcus That works for a default search, but not for a site search.
https://duckduckgo.com/search?q=%s+site:aimwell.org
Sends me to this URL:

@pesala
Why not just use the default search and search for the site?
If I use your syntax with my default browser (SeaMonkey), I get a page called "search Meanings at DuckDuckGo". If I use the same thing with Vivaldi, I get the same result as you do. -

:

@streptococcus said in Syntax for Site Search with Ecosia:
Why not just use the default search and search for the site?
A site search searches the site for the selected text.
@nomadic Yes, that works, but it seems odd that Ecosia does not need to have the colon encoded, while DDG does.

To get an icon for my site search, I added a search engine for another Buddhist site, then edited its URL to my Ecosia site search, and deleted the previous search engine for my site.
