Sling no longer works on Vivaldi Snapshot
-
Sling works fine on Vivaldi stable 5.1.2567.66, but since the last update Vivaldi snapshot 5.2.2617.2 does not work. I get a message that Sling does not support Chrome 100. I am not sure what changed from the previous version, but I wonder when Vivaldi stable is updated if it might have the same problem. Anyone know why this is happening?
I've included a screen shot of the message I receive and the details about the Vivaldi snapshot I have installed.
And I am also including details on the operating system.
Thanks.

@hbeitman Open link which is provide on error page of Sling TV and check which browsers are supported.
Chrome 100 and Vivaldi 5.2 Snapshot is a beta version, perhaps it is not supported yet. Stable version of Chrome/Chromium is 99.

Thanks for the advice. Vivaldi and Firefox have not been listed as supported on Sling. Linux isn't mentioned at all. However, Vivaldi stable and Vivaldi snapshot versions have worked for the past few years, as has Chrome on current Linux distros.
The Vivaldi stable still works just fine. It seems something in the last Vivaldi snapshot changed that makes it no longer work with Sling. I am trying to head off the likely problem that a future update makes the stable release not work with Sling, which might prevent anyone running Linux from being able to access the service. I hope someone from Vivaldi sees this post and reconsiders whatever updates they are making that might cause this incompatibility.
Thanks again for your suggestion.

@hbeitman I can not test, Sling has geo-blocking.
Perhaps you can fake the Vivaldi useragent's number to an older one.

@hbeitman said in Sling no longer works on Vivaldi Snapshot:

Sling is a competetor of Google TV. Chrome and Google TV are both owned by Google. Google would probably prefer that you use their streaming service instead, and have found a way to encourage that?
Sorry, but whenever I see Chrome connected with a problem, my conspiracy meter peggs.
