Can't uninstall extension in Vivaldi browser
-
The Vivaldi browser has long established an extension of "Old Layout for Facebook". This extension does not work for a long time, but I can not delete it. Each time the browser starts, this extension appears again if it was removed or automatically turns on if it was turned off. Searches in the profile in the registry and the system disk did not give anything. Please help get rid of this expansion.

@vpbrod Close Vivaldi, search in your Windows user folder with Explorer for folder
abmkkackbbimmdbfjdilpnfaegaeagge
and delete it.If there is no such folder, may be some malware is adding it.
Then you need to scan for adware/malware with free scanner MalwareBytes -
This is a long long shot in the dark and please bare with me.
I am assuming windows still employs the system restore function.?
If so is there a restore point you can go back to prior to extension install.?.
When i used windows last, which was windows 7 i always used a restore point prior to installing anything new.
I know it's a shot in the dark but just throwing a suggestion in there that may help you. -
@priest72 I never trusted too much the restore points as still has a (very small) chance to restore parts of previously cleaned infections and rarely solve the problem (probably worked only once for a defective unsigned driver).
Best route is identify the issue and going with troubleshoot+cleaning. -

MalwareBytes found 8 objects. 5 objects from KMS I left. 3 objects moved to quarantine. Neither changed. The extension 'Old Layout for Facebook' could not be deleted. -
@vpbrod Try removal steps with Zemana and/or AdwCleaner too.
And as you have 8 items - infection names will help - so probably 5-8 malwares, you should follow dedicated steps too, deleting instead putting in quarantine. Check also if the KMS is trusted, because sometimes are trojan in disguise (will install other malwares).
You may try to force remove the extension with the browser opened with the help of unlocker as you don't manage to clean when is closed: unlock the folder and try to remove the now corrupted extension at
vivaldi://extensions

@vpbrod , it seems to me a hijacker, This malware, apart in the browser, is also installed in the system like a regular app, apart it have also entries in the register and in the browser icons in the desktop, apart of the entry in the browser profile. Because of this it reproduce itself, even when you delete one of this items.
That meansd, apart deleting the extension, clear the browsercache and serviceworkers, delete the mencioned entry in the profile, you must delete all of the access icons of Vivaldi (and of the other browsers you use) in the desktop, creating them new from the executables and search in the add and remove programm menu in the windows control panel, if there is a entry which you don't know and remove it.
Alternatively, better than Malwarebytes, you can try with the Panda Cloud Cleaner, it's 100% free, 24h user support and use malware definitions in realtime in the servers itself, apart don't stay resident in memory after using it, like Malwarebytes do. -

I am able to remove the extension from the browser and the extension folder from the profile. The next time run the extension and the extension folder also appears.
