PWA Bug?
-
Ever since Vivaldi went to version 5.0 I keep getting the PWA Install message at the bottom of the screen every time I open Twitter in the browser, even though it is disabled in flags. I was hoping updates would fix it, but apparently not. Even in 5.1 it is still doing it. Is it a Vivaldi bug, an Android 12 problem, a Twitter problem, and even more importantly, is there a way to get rid of the damned thing?
(Pre-version 5.0 having it disabled in flags worked fine, and I never saw it.)

Hello @Apanthropist
It's definitely not something usual for Vivaldi and it's likely that something else is causing it.
Anyway, remember that you can always use this to let the developers team know if it's a bug or something specific to your device.

@realmat0s I've tried turning off the built-in ad blocker and tracker options, but it still turns up. Any idea what other common causes there may be in Vivaldi on Android? (And your link comes up as Not Found.)

The other thing I can think of is malware on Android, but that would be the last option.
If you've already cleared the cache/browsing data. I recommend you send a report to the link sending a screenshot with the problem. Then we can give you a support ticket to fix it.

@apanthropist I'm not seeing anything like that on my Android 9 phone. Do you get these messages while using another browser on your phone?
-
@pafflick No, they don't show up in Bromite. It all started when Vivaldi when from 4 to 5.0. All of a sudden I got dark web pages and found they had been enabled in flags for some reason, so I reset that to default, which sorted that out. But the PWA and add to home screen messages both keep popping up even though set to disabled.

@apanthropist haven't seen similar reports from other users so far - makes me wonder if it's specific to your device somehow. FWIW, you could try instaling a Snapshot version to test this or perform some basic troubleshooting.

@pafflick Just installed the latest snapshot and logged in to Twitter and the PWA was there. Went in to flags and disabled the two PWA options and restarted, and they still showed up. I'll just take the easy option and use Firefox for accessing Twitter for now. Hopefully what ever the bug is will resolve itself with time.

@apanthropist If you know how to reproduce that issue, you can report it to the developers. Please take some time to read the article on how to report a bug and follow the instructions there. It would be appreciated if you attached screenshots of the unwanted message in a reply to the confirmation e-mail. Thank you!
