Stop adding niche features; work on performance issues

@dmehus I hope they will continue working on Vivaldi's unique features, which is their core value proposition. What you consider a niche feature may be the exciter for someone else.
Their options to boost performance over what Chrome offers is limited, given that they use the Chromium engine, which they render the UI on top. So beating Chrome will be hard. They are constantly working on these topics anyway, every now and then a changelog highlights some performance related fix. Also see https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-fires-up-performance-2/ as an example that shows that they do care about performance.
It would sure be nice to have great performance on older PCs, but sadly the Presto engine that would have made this possible was discontinued long ago.

reducing program startup times
How many times do you start Vivaldi in the day?
I do it only once automatically when the PC start.

instead of further features, it is better to focus on eliminating numerous bugs
Count the number of new features, then count the number of bug fixes. Then check a couple of other snapshot releases. And yes I also think several features could get a bit more polished, but overgeneralized comments do not improve anything. Be specific, write bug reports, make feature requests, help other users.

Do people actually time the browser upon start up.?..Wow mind blown.

My browser is up for ... 16 days, 19 hours and 23 minutes now. I absolutely care about those 2 seconds of startup time

For us, not only adding new features is important. Starting with 3.7 Vivaldi improved x10 its desktop performance and in 4.1 we added important speed improvements with many tabs open on Android.
Progress is where we are always going. And all hand in hand with unique features after each update.

@priest72 No, unless someone proposes snaps and flatpaks

I think we can all agree there is only one correct answer to that question, ultimately.

These days, many of us spend more time with our browser than with any other software. I am sure that we all have issues with something. For me, performance is never an issue, but then I rarely open more than five tabs in two windows.
Nevertheless, I am sure that I could list more than 100 things that bug me. My pet bug at the moment is the long list of closed tabs, which renders the Trash Can list useless for me. Many other users asked for it to be increased. Ideally, there should be a Setting for Number of Closed Tabs to Store.
