Can't install Vivaldi
-
Hello,
I recently tried to install Vivaldi on my work machine. Unfortunately i've got this error
Which basically means: Installation failed, due to unspecified error. If Vivaldi is running, close the program and try once more."
I had used vivaldi like 2 month ago on this machine, but I uninstalled it back then. Since then I updated system to win11, and thats everything major that I did with system.
What I did already:
-Lanuched installation file as admin
-Made sure, that Vivaldi is uninstalled
-Rebooted machine
-Deleted vivaldi files in regedit
-deleted files that I could, related to Vidaldi
-checked in task manager that there are no vivaldi related process
-Tried to install older versions of VivaldiI can install other programs.
Is it possible that some company setted policies or programs are preventing from installing? I easily installed it 2 months ago, and used it for a while. -
@pawel253 Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
What type of installation are you attempting? All users, per user, standalone?
The installer needs write permissions in TEMP (
AppData\Local\Temp
) as well as the location you're installing to.You do not need to launch install as Admin, in fact it could cause problems if you've done it before.
Make sure install location is clean, delete the old folder, maybe permissions are wrong if you installed as Admin.

@pathduck Thank you, I was installing it for single user, and changed it to all users. Now everything works flawless, thank you chief

@pawel253 Great
Just to make sure: When you installed as Single user it will be installed in:
c:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application
Make sure that folder is deleted - but NOT the User Data folder. All users install will install in
c:\Program Files\
and will prompt for UAC elevation when updating, but no need to launch as Administrator. -
