YouTube HDR overexposed in Vivaldi only
-
Once again, here i am with an issue i can't fix on my own.
The issue comes from YouTube videos with HDR, which i can't disable or change to non-HDR for whatever ungodly reason. It's not on all videos with HDR, but those that have the issue, persist trough new starts and refreshing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwizAr41PjA one video in question. Here a screenshot, please note that HDR + screenshots are about 20% more overexposed, because muh windows.
Disabling HDR in windows is not an option. Didn't get myself an HDR OLED TV just to disable it.

@kepke Looks like Vivaldi has a problem with a color profile. But i can not test, lack of HDR devices.
What happen if you
Openvivaldi://flags/#force-color-profile
Select "HDR10" in flags dropdown
Restart Vivaldi
Video ok?Open
vivaldi://flags/#force-color-profile
Select "scRGB linear"
Restart Vivaldi
Video ok?Open
vivaldi://flags/#force-color-profile
Select "sRGB"
Restart Vivaldi
Video ok? -
Hey,
I tested like you asked, here is the results: All 3 settings fixed the video, however, there where some problems.
HDR10: Fixes the video, but when i switch tabs, let's say Video > this forum (white, bright) > back to Video. The Video lags extremely. Refreshing won't fix the lag.
scRGB: Fixes the video, but the entire browser seems very dark and doesn't get brighter when i come back to a bright page. At one point, the video went back to overexposed again.
sRGB: Fixes the Video, browser looks normal and the "brightness adjustments" happen normaly. As of now, the best setting.
I doubt it, but maybe my somewhat special setup might cause issues. My Monitor/TV is the LG OLED 48C17 and the GPU i'm using is a RTX 2080Ti. The 2000 Series doesn't support HDMI2.1, so i'm using an USB C adapter (USB C virtual link on the GPU) that allows me to push: 3840x2160@120Hz, YCbCr444, 10bpc but at the cost of no G-Synch. Without the adpater, i can push 3840x2160@120Hz, but only at YCbCr420, 8bpc but G-Synch works then (not really needed with this panel tbh).
This is the adapter i use for anyone curious.
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08MSWMXT4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It hasn't been an issue, except the mentioned HDR youtube videos sometimes being overexposed and overexposed screenshot when trying to screenshot a bright anything, but that's a windows issue.
@DoctorG Thanks for the fix. Will update again if i encounter the issue again.
