Solved Drag/drop on html5-like sites selects text in addition to drag/dropping the elements.
-
Hey there, first time poster long time Vivaldi user.
My uni is converting to using D2L's Brightspace, a modern LMS with drag and drop tools. If I use these tools however, they seem to work, but the regular text selection that occurs when dragging happens at the same time. With Chromium Edge this isn't the case.
Any insights on what this may cause?

@phronese I can not test, but have a idea which may be a workaround - give it a try:
Disable selection of text in links.- Open Settings → Webpages
- Go to section Webpages
- Untick "Allow Text Selection in Links"
- Close settings page
- Restart Vivaldi
I would be happy if such setting could help you.

@phronese I can not test this as i have no account for such platform. And these ignorants at D2L do not let me use free mail provider to get a demo.
Please read Help us to reproduce the issue carefully and then report bug to Vivaldi tracker.

@phronese What and how do you drag?
Which Vivaldi version?I tried with several CMS where i could rearrange elements by Drag&Drop and did not get such text selection.
I can not imagine what happens in your case.

@phronese Thanks for GIF. Strange issue.
Please report it to bug tracker, such issue is not user-friendly, and forces users to user an other browser.
-
@doctorg Alright, thanks very much! I'll file a bug report. This does indeed cause me to use another browser, because I use this all the time for my work
-
@phronese I hope the Vivaldi will devs get a demo account for the LMS to be able to test the issue.
-
@phronese Thanks for your report.
VB-84637 "Drag/drop functionality on HTML5 website causes text selection to occur at the same time"/edit: I try to ping testers/devs in internal chat now.

@doctorg That 'trick' actually fixed the issue. Can't remember I used the feature so I'll leave it switched off. Thanks a lot, DoctorG!

Vivaldi's feature is enabled by default.
But it should not cause such issue. That is a bug. -
