Vivaldi keeps saving .png and .jpg files as .jfif files
-
The image extension in the URL is .png or .jpg and in the download save as pop up, it says save files as .png or .jpg but when I try to upload my images to discord the final saved file extension was .jfif and discord doesn't know what to do with it. So I have to redownload the file in the save as pop up choose the drop down 'save as type' select 'all files' and manually type .png or .jpg to the end of the filename to save as.
I download and share 10 or more memes per day. I try uploading memes to discord only to find out I downloaded a dud because of Vivaldi. The most annoying part is during the 'save as' download box, I make sure that 'save as type' is' png image' or 'jpeg image' but, still, vivaldi finalized the file extension as .jfif without telling me. Only when I look at the download folder can I see if Vivaldi saved a dud filetype
I've been using Vivaldi for 5 years I think and this default behavior only started recently. Why the sudden change?

@venno Vivaldi doesn't know how to save as .jfif, so are you using any extensions or any 3rd party software on your machine that might affect this?

from https://fileinfo.com/extension/jfif
"Some Windows 10 updates can cause web browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, to mistakenly save .JPG files as JFIF files. To fix this issue, you must revert your Windows Registry to saving JPEG images as .jpg files."
now let's search "jpg saved as jfif how to fix"

As I understand things, JFIF = JPEG, just with a different file extension. But no, Vivaldi (or most other web browsers) doesn't change the underlying format of an image when it is saved or uploaded.

@venno Some Windows App does set this file type and wrong mime-type for jpeg images, not Vivaldi.
