Prime video to update your browser before 6 December..
-
Hi, As a user of Prime video, I am now getting this message when using Prime video."Your web browser is out of date. Update your browser now to continue watching Prime video after 6 December" I have the latest Vivaldi...Has anyone else had this message, and will Vivaldi be updating a patch?
-
@bigzap , I have no account, but I can access without problems with Vivaldi last stable.
Test in a guest profile, to rule out as a reason for the issue a extension or setting.
Vivaldi has the same UA like one of the last versions of Chrome and of course no outdated -
Same here, the popup came out when starting the player.
I have also the latest stable for windows (4.3.2439.65), also tried with all the extensions disabled and the built in adblocker disable, but nothing changes.
I think is something related to DRMs, since it doesn't switch to HD. -
I am getting the message when visiting Prime video, it has just started today. I believe a similar message with the same problem has been posted today from some one in Germany, so could be more than just me... This is Prime who are posting this message when I log into Prime video, and the big test will be 6th of December...

@bigzap
Hi, to be safe you can test the snapshot version of Vivaldi as standalone install, it use the Chromium 96 version. Stable is at 94

@sergio-brighenti
You can try this too, the DRM issue is different, Vivaldi cant play Prime HD videos.
Amazon would like fees for the HD player, Vivaldi want/cant pay fees for all users.Cheers, mib

OK, I can verify the popp up message on Vivaldi 4.3.2439.65 (Stable channel) (64-Bit) on Windows 11, does not pop up on Linux, hm.
There is no message on Vivaldi 4.4.2488.3 / Chrome 96.0.4664.51, this is the snapshot version (Beta).
Please wait for the next stable version, I guess it will come in 4 weeks or so.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin
Are you sure about HD? I've tested it on other chromium based browsers (Brave just now for reference) and works without issues, and I don't think they are all paying amazon for all the installations -
@sergio-brighenti Yes, we are sure.
Amazon Prime HD needs extra paid codec+licence which is not implemented in Vivaldi. -
Also getting this popup on Windows.
Vivaldi 4.3.2439.65 (Stable channel) (64-bit) -
I'm getting the Amazon video notice also. Someone on reddit said that Widevine was updated and Amazon is requiring the latest Widevine to play videos. I had to look it up, but Widevine is DRM software.
"Widevine is a proprietary digital rights management (DRM) technology from Google used by the Google Chrome, Brave and Firefox web browsers (including some derivatives), Android MediaDRM, Android TV, and other consumer electronics devices. Widevine technology supports various encryption schemes and hardware security to restrict consumer access to distributed video content according to rules defined by content owners."
