BUG: PDF saved as 0 bytes / download stopped
-
Vivaldi version: 4.2.2406.48 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
This has been prevalent on some bank sites where saving a PDF results in a 0 byte download stopped scenario.
Other Chromium based browsers can save the file without an issue.
No extensions enabled -
@vibgo Can happen if the URL of PDF is http://... and the website https://... Such dwoanloads are blocked.
After download a popup appears which asks to Keep the downloaded file, did you miss that modal popup?
Do you have a URL to such PDF?
-
@doctorg thank you for your quick reply.
I just looked - the link is https://Actually, it uses a blob link - for instance:
blob:https://onlinebanking.tdbank.com/something-randomly-generatedI get the prompt asking to save the file - and I choose it as usual. No luck. "download stopped" - however, Edge works.
It used to work with Vivaldi until v4 or v4.1 or so?
I hope this helps -
@vibgo Does the PDF open in Vivaldi internal PDF viewer?
-
@doctorg No - it does not. I tried both 'open' and 'save' options - but in both cases, it asks to save the file first, and then '0 bytes - stopped'.
The same file, once it has been downloaded from another browser, can be opened in Vivaldi's PDF viewer without an issue.
-
@vibgo Had you tried to open banking site in Guest Window mode and download?
Please check Troubleshooting issues.
-
@doctorg Just tried that again to verify.
Same issue - "0 of 0 bytes - Stopped"I just went through the troubleshooting steps as well. No difference.
-
@vibgo I can not help much as i am not customer of this bank.
And without any Blocker active and are cookies allowed for thirdparty?
Use of Antivirus or other security programs? -
@doctorg I appreciate your walking me through it - it helped me confirm / re-test everything.
I turned the ad/tracker blocking off and allowed third party cookies as well - it made no difference.
Just the default windows anti-virus.
It has to be something with that blob thing - the file size is reported as unknown - so it's blob - then go to the link - and somewhere there, it all goes off the rails -
