Where are cookies stored?
-
Hi, once again used up several hours trying to establish where cookies are stored in the browser. There is no folder called cookies and I can't find any reference to them apart from ion the privacy section.
Basically I want to delete some.
Can some kind person save my sanity and tell me where to find them?Vivaldi 4.1.2369.21 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

@boristhemoggy Open
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Vivaldi\User Data\Default
in Explorer and see the SQLite database fileCookies
, but you can not edit it easy. But you can delete cookies in Vivaldi Settings → Privacy → Show Saved Cookies or in internal page
chrome://settings/siteData
or if visiting a website click the lock, select Cookies, expand the cookies tree, select the ones you want to delete, hit Remove and close with Done -
Ahh thanks I wish to delete just some and not others, I think I need a third party cookie manager. Thanks anyway.

@doctorg Also, no such folder as %LOCALAPPDATA%\Vivaldi\User Data\Default

Check Help-About (in Vivaldi) for the location of the "profile folder"

To delete only some cookies try
Settings/Privacy - Saved Cookies
or use the url chrome://settings/cookies -
-
@boristhemoggy No need for extra cookie manager:
Open chrome://settings/siteData
Use Search for domain to manage cookies
Show the cookie by selecting the triangle
Delete it with ⓧ button -
@doctorg Yeah the problem is I've got cookies from 3000+ domains lol
Many I want to keep as I auto log in to most websites, but the rest I want rid of. I just sort of want a list I can go through clicking 'delete' as I go
Sadly it appears there's few cookie managers out there -
@boristhemoggy Oh that link does exactly what I want it too! Thanks!!!

If so I recommend:

Blocking 3rd-party cookies will stop of a lot of these from being saved. It might break a couple of sites, but it's worth it in terms of privacy and just running a clean ship.
-
Install an extension like Cookie Autodelete or Site Bleacher to whitelist sites you want to keep cookies from, while deleting everything else when the tab is closed.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cookie-autodelete/fhcgjolkccmbidfldomjliifgaodjagh
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/site-bleacher/mlcfcepfmnjphcdkfbfgokkjodlkmemo
This will save you from having to regularly clean up a mess of cookies on the system. I currently have 600 cookies from about 180 whitelisted domains (a "domain" in this context often also includes subdomains/hosts).

@pathduck Well the problem stems from that if you want the cookie preference engines to store your data you must allow cookies.
However over a year I have found that so many companies are unreachable on the cookie preference sites.
So yes, I am now going back to session cookies only, and whitelisting. -
