six × nine = ?

@guigirl You know, I did have to explain to one of my coworkers (a high school senior) that to multiply by 10 you just add a zero at the end. Just what are they teaching kids these days anyway?
-
@guigirl In math, we write it out, since "10" could mean two or sixteen depending on what base it is written in. Doesn't matter, whatever base it is multiplying by "10" is still just "add a zero at the end".
-
@guigirl 95, huh? I never had a reason to leave it running that long. I'd shut it down whenever I walked away -- meals, restroom breaks, classes (teaching), whatever. Hence I can't say if it's just another urban legend or what. Not that I imagine many people leaving their PC running for a month and a half at a time back then.
Re: letters, you people must have so many you have to give them away, the way you add extra letters to words. (color, aluminum, math, ...)
-
@guigirl Perfect example - why write "petrol" when "gas" works nicely.
-
@guigirl Merkans instead of Americans: is it an example of letters parsimony?
-
@guigirl Europe - The final countdown?????

@guigirl You really are a lucky girl!

@guigirl Wow! You are a "person of interest" to the FBI

Gee, they say the card is in your name then ask what your name is. Early onset Alzheimer's?

I see the Guardian also mentioned Ohio, such as it is ...
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/aug/31/ivermectin-covid-ohio-judge-orders-hospital
One of those "if the guy is dying, then try anything" things, they're blowing it out of proportion here. I don't believe it'll do anything (and for all we know the judge might feel the same). If a doctor prescribed it (which one did), they shouldn't just say no. It's on the prescribing doctor if it goes wrong.

Wait, this is the wrong thread!
OT!
Well, you'll be forgiven this time…
-
@guigirl Exactly. It is not as if you were a repeat offender…

I spent dogknows how may hours yesterday arvo & night experimenting on one of my Debianish VMs, to see if i could install Cinnamon 5.0.5 on it by manually downloading all the packages needed, via https://packages.debian.org/experimental. So far i've got 200 packages yet still cannot proceed due to apparently unending
dependency hell
problems. I'm gonna give it another few hours later today, then abandon it if still no joy then.Reminds me of trying to run a custom build of Wayfire (which I failed to build, apparently because of normal/git conflicts)
-
@guigirl I guess I can just wait for wlroots 0.15, so it isn’t such a big problem for me [hopefully]. On the other hand, if Wayfire fails to build even right after wlr 0.15 update, with all its subprojects being
-git
or as a part of the wf build tree, it might sign something about my competence…Geez, the forum is being updated really frequently.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaah, you walk on water IMO
I’d rather walk on ground, coz with walking on water it’s like with flying (you know, Arthur fell sometimes).

forgetting to sink
I never think of that, «forgetting to sink». I'll never be a saviour…
Maybe it'll be ok after that?
Given the number of «Forum Update» (a massive attack…is this site now a rolling release forum?), you'll find a brand new forum when you're back…
-
@guigirl Shall we… push it?
-
You do realize this'll put you back in the top threads, don't you?
-
Imo, a thread you can set on
Ignoring
without remorse…
