back button on mouse

normal mouse buttons work but back and forward buttons or anything thats programmable does not work
found a few old posts that says this is a problem with the interface but can find so solutions or thoughts on getting them working
is it being worked on - if so its taking a while as posts go back a few years or is it just as it is
-
@adacom My back/forward buttons work fine, also on my Logitech wireless who is "programmable" by driver.
is it being worked on
It's not being worked on unless someone has made a reproducible bug report. Did you find any in those old posts?

My Microsoft mouse's back and forward buttons are working fine as well.
@adacom Can you share your environment settings? Also, is Vivaldi the only application where you're experiencing this problem, or do you have it in others as well? Finally, did you try it from a guest window / clean profile to make sure it's not something related to your particular Vivaldi configuration?

With my Logitech M705 the forward/back buttons at the side work nice with 4.1.2369.16 Win 10 x64 21H1.

thanks all - i will have to do more testing - i only get the problem on Vivaldi - different Microsoft mice on different laptops running windows 10 pro
laptops are Dell i5 and i7 both with 16gig memory

Any special mouse software or changed mouse button settings?
-
it only has one side button which is not seen by windows 10 - there are drivers that dont help so i use custom software to program the side button - x-mouse button control - that then allows the side button to work on every program bar Vivaldi
i had searched and found old posts that said there was a problem in Vivaldi so assumed that was the problem - will now look deeper as it seems the problem lies elsewhere - the mice are not new but the fact they can be programmed for anything other than Vivaldi is odd
-
@adacom You have tested in other browsers?
And in a clean Vivaldi profile?
-
@pathduck - it works in other browsers as it does with other programs - but no i have not tested it in a clean install of Vivaldi - as said i found comment that there is/was a problem in vivaldi so looked no further - my mistake that i will now look deeper at

I had a problem of X Mouse Button Control interfering with Vivaldi, which I could solve (after asking in the XMBC forum) by changing an XMBC setting
