Ruffle is So Slow!
-
I use Ruffle as a flash replacement because I have a couple of old games that still require flash to play. My games zip along on other browsers, but at a snail's pace on Vivaldi. I've asked about this in the Ruffle support forum as well, but was wondering if there's something in Vivaldi that's slowing it so much. I'm on Windows 10 and in Firefox and Chrome, there's no problem at all. Any ideas or an explanation would be great as I prefer Vivaldi to the others. Thank you.

@nightsmusic , I'm happy without Flash, because of this I can't reproduce this issue, maybe related to some security soft, settings or extensions.
Currently all old flashgames also exists in Html5, Unity and WebGl, for this you don't need flash anymore.https://html5games.com

https://playclassic.games (old DOS or console games right in Vivaldi, include online emulator)
etc. -
@catweazle Actually, not all old games exist in those formats. Not the one I play, so it requires a flash replacement.
-
@nightsmusic , which game? all flashgames where updated, since PONG, AFAIK, since the user like to play them also in mobile, impossible in flash.
Apart from whether there is still a page with flashgames, it means that it is unattended for a long time and therefore a magnet for all kinds of malware, so anyway you have to take it with a clamp. -
i don't bother with ruffle.i use a standalone flash player running on my computer or the last un-time-bombed version of flash in a frozen browser.Runs flash perfectly and i have approximately 50,000 flash games downloaded.
All can run offline too. -
Okay, not my question. I am not looking for comments on HTML5 games or malware. I've been around a long time and am well aware of the 'dangers' involved in some sites. This isn't my problem. I asked why Ruffle would only be crawling along on Vivaldi. So thank you, but that's what I'm trying to get an answer to.

@nightsmusic Simple solution is to use one of your other browsers seeing as they zip along quite nicely.

@nightsmusic , I mentioned earlier that the cause may be unrelated to Vivaldi, due to some extension. It is very strange that it works fine in Chrome and not in Vivaldi.
Since I do not use flash, I have a bit difficult to test it myself, I can only suggest to review the security configuration, extensions, filters in the inbuild ad/trackerblocker, etc., which can cause this slowdown. -
