Save memory from tabs and extensions.
-
I found the extensions will slow down the speed of vivaldi running and eat so much RAM.
However, the other browsers often eat a lot of memory course' of the tabs or extensions, too.
So, I wonder if there will be a possibility that we can choose to reduce the cache to save the memory? My ideas:
a. We can choose the number of tabs that will “be online / use cache or memory", and the number will include the locked tab and priority/always guaranteed locking tab online.
b. We can choose the websites for extensions to “be online / use cache or memory", with the “offline" extensions in gray icon. As for many extensions will not work for some websites but it is using memory and my computer always says the XXXX extension breakdown because of lacking memory. In addition, I can accept the slower speed from reloading extensions, instead of the breakdown from lacking memory.
-
And here is an example:
I would like to select a dozen of tabs to read later at the same time. And if can choose only cache 5 tabs, when I close a tab after reading, there will be another tab start to cache.
Then my computer wen't go breakdown because of auto-caching a dozen tabs at the same time.

Hi, can you add your Vivaldi, OS version and your system specs.
My old laptop had 8GB and my new have 16GB, so I never get tabs to hibernate and I use 64 Bit OS´s only.
As workaround you can mark your tabs and save them as session for later use.
How many tabs you are use usually?Cheers, mib

tags or extensions
Presumably you mean Tabs and Extensions?

@pesala Yes, Tabs and extensions! Sorry for this.

@mib2berlin Both OS version or WIN version needed. For OS version, 16GB RAM. WIN version, 20GB.
But that‘s not enough! I usually need ten more programs running or on the backgroundand.
As for browser, I rarely turn this program off, and sometimes the tabs goes to be more than thirty, when I have to “sleep” some tab manually.
I hope there is a number to “auto-sleep" some tabs which used long ago, or before being “active" among twenty or thirty simultaneously opening tabs. The "vivaldi tabs history" said there are hundreds/thousands of pages being browsed on a average day on my WIN computer.
I just feel shocked. But that's the truth.
"Sleep" meaning to hibernate tab from online/available or from opening.

@pesala Sure. Sorry for editing late.
