Which folder holds history data
-
I sync vivaldi manually between computers (I know, vivaldi has a cloud sync function. I've tried it a couple of times. It didn't work well. I haven't seen anything in changelogs since about fixing sync, so haven't wasted time on it again). I sync particular files and folders from user data/default folder, including the 'history' file.
Today I notice that the last 3 days are missing from history on desktop. the days when I was using laptop. (desktop sync to laptop on friday, sync back to desktop on monday). those days exist in vivaldi history on the laptop.
Is there some other file or folder than 'user data/default/history' that i need to sync?

@astro46 Are you also syncing the
History Provider Cache
andHistory-journal
files? I think the cache is used for speeding up searching but might also be important in other ways. The
History
file is SQLite format, you can browse it with the right tool.
https://sqlitebrowser.orgLook in the
visits
table for the missing entries.url
is linked to theurls
table primary key. Timestamps are in the silly Chrome/Webkit format.

i wasn't syncing 'history provider cache' and 'history-journal' files. I added them to the sync. same problem. if fact, i notice that open tabs aren't being sync'd either.
so, the history of vivaldi is not the same on laptop and desktop after syncing, and tabs aren't the same either. Syncing used to work fine. I stopped paying so much attention to it. apparently an 'update' screwed it up.
It is important to know which folders/files to transfer, not just for syncing, but if one wants to backup vivaldi, or create a new profile .
