Vivaldi won't stay logged in to Google.
-
I keep getting randomly logged out of Google and YouTube (which is owned by Google) multiple times a day. This has been happening for a week or two now. It only happens on Vivaldi. Most sites don't have this problem; Vivaldi stays logged in to most of them. But Google and YouTube log me out all the time now.
I can't even set Google search settings (like Safesearch) anymore, because as soon as I click to save my settings, I'm instantly logged out and the settings aren't saved. I tried deleting my cache and cookies, but it didn't fix the problem. It's as if Vivaldi isn't saving my Google cookies correctly or something.

@hbenthow Go to the "Privacy" page in Settings. Under the "Google Extensions" section, there are two settings that say "Disabling this option may break Google Services". Did you disable one or both in the past? If so, there's the problem. Re-enable them.
-
@eggcorn They're all enabled.
-
@hbenthow You mean they're enabled now, or they were already enabled when you checked in the settings?
-
@eggcorn said in Vivaldi won't stay logged in to Google.:
You mean they're enabled now, or they were already enabled when you checked in the settings?
Most likely, the user has not fiddled with them, if they are a googler, and if they are all enabled. Plus, these extensions are more likely to cause inability to sign in, not random sign out.
@hbenthow Did you test in a guest window? In Firefox?
-
@eggcorn Already enabled when I checked.
-
@code3 Vivaldi is the only browser giving me this issue. Other browsers like Chrome, Slimjet, and Waterfox aren't giving me the issue.
After seeing your comment, I opened a guest window and signed into Google on it. It's too early to tell for sure, but it doesn't seem to have the problem so far. I was able to set search settigns without beign logged out.

go to settings (located with a gear symbol
) then go to "privacy", scroll down and in the option "accept cockies" uncheck the box "delete on exit" or "block"
vivaldi will not save your data if the option to accept cockies is not activated. -
@foxdefalt "Accept Cookies" is already set to "All".
-
so i think it must be something to do with the option to save passwords... make sure the option "save logins and passwords" is enabled, if not I don't know what it might be.
-
@foxdefalt "Save Webpage Passwords" is already enabled.
As I mentioned, msot websites don't have this problem. It just recently started happening for no discernable reason, after years of using Vivaldi.

@hbenthow Try in a private window
-
@code3 Try what in a private window? As I mentioned before, I already tried using Google in a guest window, and it seems to work correctly.
-
@hbenthow A private window uses your settings but no extensions and uses it’s own cache and cookies. A guest window uses a blank profile. Try in a private window.
-
@code3 I tried it now, and it seems not to have the problem in a private window.
-
@hbenthow What that tells you is that some extension of yours or something else that has gotten installed in, or has corrupted, your profile is causing the problem.
-
@ayespy What would be your recommendation on how to narrow things down to figure out exactly what's causing it?
-
Anything related to privacy or tracking, as Google is one of the bigger tracking companies so anything likely to block trackers is likely to block parts of Google.
-
@hbenthow Are you using the Vivaldi email client?
-
@ayespy No.
