Solved "No internet connection", but it's WRONG!
-
Occasionally, Vivaldi for Android will say "No internet connection" at the top and will load old, cached versions of pages I'm visiting. The problem is, there is internet connection and other browsers load pages just fine.
Even when Vivaldi decides that my internet connection has been restored (it was never down), the "no internet connection" notification stays and I can't get rid of it until I force close the browser.
Happens on WiFi, mobile data.
Why is this happening?

@mib2berlin I have to say I do not get this any more.

I'm bumping this as it was not answered and I am repeatedly getting problems with this site.
https://www.wordplays.com/crossword-solver/money
I'm a crossword enthusiast. I key in the word I am looking for and the number of letters in the clue.
Sometimes it gives me the answer. Sometimes it comes up with the This site can't be reached message.
I'm using Android 11 on wifi.
I have no problem using this site on other browsers. What does Vivaldi not like? I have emptied the cache and data.
If there is a way of creating an error log I will do one for you.

"This site can't be reached" occurs frequently since I've upgraded to the latest Android version, the webpage then loads immediately! I have looked in the usual places but can't find a version number.
I had never seen this message on the previous version. -

Hi, this is hard to reproduce on other mobiles, but the usual answers are, restart device, clear your cache and so forth.
You can also try to clear the Vivaldi app cache but you loose your settings, bookmarks and passwords.
Except you use Vivaldi sync, then you get all your data back in a few minutes.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin
Restart: I have tried this without any effect.
Clear cache: I wouldn't want to have to re-enter passwords etc.
Sync: I'd prefer not to have to deal with more complication.I think the new version has probably just changed a timeout value. I'll bear with it for a little while, but if it isn't fixed I'll just switch to another browser, as there are other problems such as frequent hanging and crashing.

@ChrisOfBristol
I meant clear the app cache in the Android settings, not Vivaldis.Cheers, mib

Have looked at applications/application manager/vivaldi but nothing about cache.
This is something fundamental which fiddling with settings won't fix.
That said, I think it only happens on BBC pages and IMHO their software is crap. -
@ChrisOfBristol
OK, may this setting was not available on 6.1m I cant remember.
I hope you can manage the BBC, it is maybe crap software but a very good broadcaster.Cheers, mib

....Well you went off topic first. BBC are trustworthy on news but not on social issues.
