Vivaldi browser doesn't recognize internet connection
-
Here's the deal.. I was using Vivaldi on a windows 10 machine. Can't say what version but I always update as soon as I'm notified that there is a new version available.. so.. whatever was current last Thursday (5/6/2021). Had to go out of town for a couple of days so I was using the machine and all was well.. then I shut it down (normally) and left. Upon returning home yesterday (Saturday, 5/8/2021) I fire up the computer and connect normally (wifi connects at 5G, then the VPN connects..) I opened Vivaldi and it said it couldn't connect to any websites. It reported that my proxy server settings were incorrect. Well, I don't USE a proxy server so...
I play an on-line game most days so I fired that up and it worked fine. It will not start if there are any connectivity issues. Closed it down and tried again with Vivaldi.. no go. Tried turning off the VPN.. no go.. Uninstalled and reinstalled Vivaldi.. no go.. Yes, I DID go to the network settings in the browser and checked.. it is NOT expecting a proxy server. But I tried it both ways and .. zilch.
So.. I uninstalled it and installed Brave. It fires right up and works fine.
I am just reporting this so an expert user maybe can figure it out and suggest a patch to Vivaldi to keep this from happening to someone else.
I still use Vivaldi on my Linux machines (Yes, 5 computers running most current version of Vivladi for Linux.. all work fine. Just the one for Windows has crossed the line. -
