Hi folks,
recently Vivaldi started to crash, when I bring up a certain website. For instance:
https://www.chip.de/downloads/Wise-Disk-Cleaner_43118316.htmlI bring up this site and vivaldi is loading to certain degree and than switches off.
Any idea of what might happening?Best Regards

@MicRe The site loads OK here in both Stable and Snapshot.
Try disabling all extensions, or switch to a guest profile to test again.

Hi Pesala,
Thanks for the hint.
- disabled all of my extensions, piece by piece, and loaded the website after each "switch off". - same behavior, it doesn't seam to be any extension.
- switched to a fresh profile - and the web site loaded without any fuss!
So, its is the profile! For the moment I have a work around. I just switch to an alternate profile when encountering any web site that causes that behavior.
Currently, the only web site I encountered is chip.de and only their software "download" sites seam to trigger the crash or switch off of vivaldi.
Any idea of how to find out what the problem might be?
Happy Sunday

@MicRe , P.S. I have tried Wise Cleaner in the past, it is not bad, but if you are looking for a cleaning program, use better Glary Utilities, much more complete.
Apart from this, although I have nothing against Chip.de, it is always better to download programs from its corresponding official website, this avoids troubles and many strange files on disk. -
Hi Catweazle,
thanks, I will take a look into Glary Utilities as well.
In general I agree, its better to download from official websites. But in that specific case.... chip.de is one of the best and well known and reputable IT print magazines at Germany, and its web site is trustworthy and well maintained. I don't think that any malicious code is hidden in the sites web code. I rather think that a combination of the web site code and my vivaldi settings is causing the behavior of the browser - but I have absolutely no clue of what that might be.
Best regards

@MicRe Could be one of your extensions corrupted the cache in such a way that it crashes. Try clearing Cache, Storage and Application Cache using Tools > Clear Browing Data.
Or if you want to clear only for the site: Try opening it, without triggering crash, press F12 for Devtools, Application tab, Clear site data.

@MicRe Same problem. When switched to a guest profile sites causing problem loaded without crash. How to fix this?

@Krass Hello and welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Give an example of what site the crash is happening on, maybe someone else can reproduce.
Please read through the troubleshooting steps:
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/troubleshooting-issues/ -
@Pathduck Currently there are two sites that cause that issue:
https://www.asos.com/
https://mail.tutanota.com/mail/Those sites open normally when im using guest profile. And yes, ive done everything from that troubleshooting article. Also reported a bug with a crash dump. Hope to see it fixed.

@Gwen-Dragon , like all sites that earn money with third-party software downloads, they carry trackers and ads of all kinds.
For this reason I said that it is preferable to download soft from its corresponding homepage. -

I have the same issue. For example, https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/malwarebytes_anti_malware.html, the Author link crashes the browser with a left-click. Right and middle click are fine. Installed several older standalone versions of Vivaldi with and found it happens on any version of Vivaldi after.3.6.2165.40 but only when running a high contrast theme. With a standard windows theme, it doesn't crash.

I have the same problem with aliexpress when I follow up, airavirtual.com ..
It seems that the site does not send correctly or does not receive any information.
I uninstalled the old version with revounistall and I installed this one .. It didn't happen to me before. -
