Solved Vivaldi freezes computer after finishing downloads - Windows 7
-
After finishing some download, vivaldi completely freezes the computer, it happens with any file, any size, but mostly it isn't severe with small files, if I download something 1~20 MBs, it just freezes a little and that's it, but today I tried to download 65MB, it was like, downloading starting, a few seconds later all the 65Mb is finished, and the file stays there 65,1MB/65,1MB downloaded in the download list, if you open process explorer or task manager at this moment, you'll see that Vivaldi replicates itself, with lots of vivaldi.exe, each one using ~120MB of RAM, and after some time, it just froze my computer, just like that, and for 10 minutes before I decided to turn off the power completely, plugging the computer off, it's really sad, I love this browser, customization, everything, so if this can't be avoided, I wi just use another browser or software to download things but I'll keep using Vivaldi, it's just sad because it would be really great if I could use it for everything, including downloading things
Edit: I'm using windows 7 32 bits old computer, 4gb RAM, but it's not just the computer, my friend with windows 10 and 8gb has the same problem with lots of instances opening, but his computer doesn't freezes, it's worse, his AV detects vivaldi as a gen.forcebomb, kills the processes and quarantines it, we're both in a bad situation -

Hi, there was a bug in older version of Vivaldi about download freeze.
Please add your Vivaldi version.
Some AV software does not add Vivaldi as trusted software because they donΒ΄t care about.
Vivaldi is not a virus or malware if you get it from vivaldi.com.
It should be possible to add an exception to the AV, if not change the AV.
It would be nice if you use some breaks and periods to your text, it is very hard to read.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin True xD, I was a little bit disappointed and sad when I wrote that, so I just did a chunk of text*, sorry
About the version, it was 3.6.something, I didn't updated it cuz the autoupdater doesn't shows up, so I downloaded the installer from vivaldi, to reinstall it, that was the 65MB file xP
Well, if the bug was corrected in the newer version, I'll be so happy! Thank you for clarifying, sorry for bothering and creating a post there, I'll check it out asap.
About my friendo, I don't know if he downloaded it from vivaldi, but I did, so my av (ksc) didn't detected it.

I am using the latest version of vivaldi and this is happening with me too, checking the task manager, it shows over a thousand
vivaldi.exe
processes, eating up the physical memory. -
@gwen-dragon Thanks! I did that and somehow it stopped the downloading freezes!
