Bing Hijacked My Browser
-
Strange thing happening on my Windows Vivaldi Browser that just started this week.
Microsoft Bing is Hijacking my browser and setting itself as the home page/new tab.
I had been using Bing for a few years, because of their Microsoft Rewards program that
gives me points toward free gift cards, Microsoft store items, etc.
However, after Microsoft's interference in US Politics a few months ago, and in 2021,
I can no longer ethically support their business.
I switched to Duck Duck Go. Used to hate it, but it's improved so much, I now like it
better than Bing or Google.
So I set Duck Duck Go as my default search engine in settings. I also changed the
home page/new tab specific page to Duck Duck Go.
However, when I close down my browser and restart it, it opens up to Microsoft Bing, and also when I close all of the tabs. I even deleted all the other search options except Duck Duck Go, but it's still defaulting back to Bing.
I checked all the setting several times, and even made sure I didn't accidently install the Bing extension.
Not sure where else to look?
Any thoughts?

@rdreammaker
Maybe it is something stored in Cookies, check: chrome://settings/siteData
and delete all Microsoft/Bing cookies.
May you delete the cache, too. Ctrl+Alt+Del open the delete dialog.Cheers, mib

What have you got in settings/tabs/new tab page?

@potmeklecbohdan
BINGO!
That was it!
Didn't realize that there was a third location where a search engine or webpage would be located.
I didn't even look there.Thank you! @potmeklecbohdan
