Qwant extension and default search engine
-
I was able to add Qwant to my search engine list and set it as the default search. When I first did so, on the qwant.com home page I saw a pop up telling me I could "add Qwant to Vivaldi" by adding the browser extension. I didn't do it right away. Instead I entered a search into the Qwant search bar from my Vivaldi Start Page. Instead of showing me search results, the Qwant home page popped up. This happens if I search from address bar or search bar.
Would the extension eliminate this and just show me search results without first directing me to qwant.com? If so, how can I add the extension? I went to the Google store to add the extension but it was in French and appeared to be trying to add the extension to Chrome (which is still installed on my computer for right now) instead of to Vivaldi. And because it was all in French (I couldn't find the button to change the language) I couldn't figure out how to get the extension for Vivaldi.
Thanks in advance for tips on how to correct this.

@JPH1 You definitely don't need an extension.
How did you add Qwant to the search? Check your Settings > Search, find Qwant and the URL.
I have the following and it works:
URL:https://www.qwant.com/?b=0&theme=1&s=0&q=%s
Suggest:https://api.qwant.com/api/suggest/?client=opensearch&q=%s
I think some of those params are for dark theme and other settings, can't remember what exactly. -
@JPH1 Why don't you right-click the search field on Qwant and select
Add as Search Engine
, then add Qwant as a search engine in Vivaldi? -
@Pathduck That worked- but yeah it was in Dark theme! I tried the right click method suggested by hlehyaric and that added the regular URL and it seems to be working better now. Thanks!

@hlehyaric That worked- thanks! I had just put www.qwant.com as the URL, not realizing I needed the /?q=%s at the end. Using the right click method (I didn't know about that) added the proper URL. Thanks again.

not realizing I needed the /?q=%s at the end.
Vivaldi really ought to warn the user, when he saves a search-engine without the "%s".

And you can do it with any site with a search field.
