ZeroHedge.com site broken in V
-
ZeroHedge.com "updated" their website last week and now Vivaldi can't display it correctly. In fact it pretty much can't display it at all - it's not subtle. (Can't upload a screen shot - you'll have to try the site) (Firefox 83, Chrome 80 and my Android 9 tablet all display the new ZeroHedge site correctly) I was using v3.4.2066.90 so I "upgraded" to v 3.5.2115.81 which didn't fix this problem. (Not surprising since the issue is only a few days old)
BUT the "upgrade" removed the only reasonable theme - which was somewhere between grotesquely garish and Lost In A Fogbank. And when V started up it just switched to the next theme in line which was a violent carmine red. It felt at first like i'd been thrust into a slaughterhouse. And then I panicked since something had gone horribly wrong - this wasn't my Vivaldi - and assumed that I had lost all of my preferences, etc. (Yes, they're backed up) Which wasn't dispelled when I used my longtime custom keyboard shortcut for Preferences and it didn't work. (This, it turned out was because V changed "Preferences" into "Settings" - which broke my shortcut.
BUT the Straw that Broke the Camels Back was discovering that the developers have, once again, broken a crucial custom keyboard shortcut ( Ctrl + ~ ) that i've been using since Opera 3.62. On an ENGLISH keyboard it's easy & intuitive replacement for Ctrl + W. My left hand has been closing tabs with this key combo since forever and it's too old to learn new & less intuitive tricks.
The V developers broke this key combo a couple of years ago and when I asked a moderator to look into it the reply was that it wasn't important (on their non-english kbd !) and wouldn't get fixed. Then about a year ago an update came out that fixed the problem and my left hand was deliriously happy again. (Note: the tilde key still works in V - but Settings won't accept a kbd shortcut that includes the "~" key)
Since 3.5.2115 update broke 3 separate things in my config so i'm about to roll back to 3.4 and probably stay there until I find an update that's less traumatic. I doubt i'll update V again without some sort of preview first. V is better than anything else out there but their development objectives & priorities are much different that what mine would be.

@kosmonaut The page looks fine for me in both Stable and Snapshot builds.
Try disabling all extensions.
The default Vivaldi theme may have changed somewhat. I use my own themes. There are a bunch of themes from which to choose, and you can edit any theme to suit your own tastes.
The ~ is to the left of the Enter key on my UK Keyboard. I presume that you mean the key to the left of the 1 key (on a US Keyboard?) It is a dead key on some keyboards for typing ã ñ etc. Submit a bug report if it is newly broken.

Thank You.
I'm back to v3.4.2066 (x86 on Win7 x64 mach). I retried w/ no extensions and it's the same. Tried my W7 x64 laptop running V 3.4.2066 w/o any extensions and it's still broken. In order to see if it's an ISP issue I fired up my VPN but the site is still broken on V 3.4 w/ no extensions. Again all the the other browsers I have access to show the new site fine - using 2 different "cloud" paths to get there. Don't know what else to try...

@kosmonaut Install the latest Stable version as a Standalone version. That will have a clean profile with no extensions (or personal bookmarks etc.) If that works, then we know that is something messed up in your profile, which I already suspect as the site loads fine here as far as I can tell without logging in.
Install the Snapshot as a Standalone Version so that it does not interfere with your settings for the Stable release.

@Pesala: Thanks once again.
I decided it was time to do clean install, which I haven't done in yrs, so that what I did this evening. I saved bookmarks & history but rebuilt everything else from scratch. And, as you suspected, it "fixed" the ZeroHedge problem. I have some theories but they're too embarrassing to share.
