What browser should we use on iOS (iPhone and iPad)?
-
@Team_Vivaldi - I know there is no Vivaldi for iOS which makes me use a different browser and then using Vivaldi on Desktop makes it difficult for me to sync.
Do you recommend any iOS browser as an alternative with a sync solution or you are coming up with iOS Vivaldi app?
I have already read the blog post and it hints its coming this year. Hope so.

Hello @smerugu28
Hopefully we can have good news soon. In the meantime, you can use any browser that suits your needs.
But never lose sight of the importance of privacy and data security. So, if it's something important to you, look for a browser that complies with it

@realmat0s Will use Brave mobile browser until Vivaldi comes to iOS. Hope to see you soon there this year

Firefox focus is a nice lightweight mobile browser.
-
@eggcorn I might mention Opera and Opera GX for iOS don't have bookmarks and also don't sync to the desktop versions (then again with no bookmarks what would they sync?) They do have "My Flow" so that you can send text, images and links between desktop and mobile, but that's about it.

What do you mean by "lightweight"?
-
@eggcorn Firefox focus is a simple version of Firefox on mobile that blocks ads and trackers. You can only have one tab open at a time.
-
@leo32345 So by "simple"/"lightweight", you mean "so few feathers, it doesn't even have tabs"? Doesn't sound like a browser I'd enjoy.
-
@eggcorn The browser is easy to be focused in.
Anyway it's also a Safari extension that blocks ads. -
DuckDuckGo?
Brave?
Opera?Something else?

@smerugu28 Really? We can see Vivaldi for iOS this year? Do they have a plan? We really need bookmarks sync between PC and iOS. Itβ s time to do this job. Chrome Edge Firefox Safari Opera is out.
-
@realmat0s We NEED Vivaldi for iOS PLEASE!
-
@weneedvivaldiforios
yes, with at least password sync (but bookmarks and settings would be also great) - Brave for iOS cannot sync passwords and Opera for iOS... unfortunately it is useless for everyday usage -
@smerugu28 , Whale Browser seems a good alternative

Besides all the obvious browsers, Neeva for iOS is an interesting mobile browser. It is created by the Neeva search guys and it does have a nice UI and tracker blocking (they call this the "Wall of Shame" in Neeva).
Also I did find a nice feature in iOS Safari: You can swipe horizontally at the address bar on the bottom to switch tabs.

@catweazle NAVER Whale browser is not so good, because NAVER account needs phone number.

Nowadays, mobile-to-desktop synchronization is very important. How can we compete with Chrome & Edge without data synchronization? They provide all of the services between mobile and desktop. If we do not do this job, we will have no choices but only can use these browsers who cannot protect our privacy. And why this happened? Because we will be eliminated from the market competition. So, they should value our voice, we NEED Vivaldi for iOS! We NEED sync between mobile and desktop. The people who has the same request PLEASE support us!

@weneedvivaldiforios All this is understood. That said, Vivaldi for iOS is very labor-intensive to get to. Vivaldi does have a plan for it. However, it's hauling a big rock up a steep hill. Every man-hour devoted to it is a man-hour taken away from fixing bugs and from maintaining and developing every other platform. It's not "let's do Vivaldi for iOS next Tuesday!" It's "What shall we abandon for now, so that we can spend a few weeks/months developing Vivaldi for iOS?"
As I said, Vivaldi already has a plan for this (and for all I know, may have begun it). But it's a major undertaking. Then when it's done, there has to be someone(s) dedicated to continually maintaining and updating it, which is manpower not available for maintaining and updating Windows, Linux (RPM and DEB) , Mac OS, and Android (phone and tablet) versions. These are the individual versions being maintained, developed and updated at present:
Windows 32Bit
Windows 64bit
macOS Intel 10.11
macOS M1 10.11
Linux 64bit RPM (.rem and .tar builds)
Linux 64bit Deb
Linux 64bit-ARM RPM
Linux 64bit-ARM Deb - 5.2.2592.21 (d127873)
Android 32bit-ARM - 5.2.2591.11 (25264df)
Android 64bit-ARM - 5.2.2591.11 (25264df)
Android 64bit - 5.2.2591.11 (25264df)iOS will add an entirely new branch.
