How to export / import Vivaldi settings?
-
Version: Vivaldi 3.4.2066.76 (Stable channel) (32-bit)
I like to add new persons / profiles to my vivaldi so that I have one for casual use, one for studing, one for other things and so on.
Since creating such a new profile always uses the default settings for Vivaldi, I'd have to change them manually.
I never found out how to export and import the settings of Vivaldi via a simple XML or TXT file.
I tried using the sync feature, but it only fully syncs bookmarks and extensions and such things.
Vivaldi Sync does sync some settings but only some - it also says "partially" in the sync settings. It does sync:
- Tabs
- Panel
- Adress Bar
- Bookmark
- Quick Commands
- Privacy (not the "Tracker and Ad Blocking" however)
- Download
- Webpages (not "Plugins" however)
It does not sync:
- Themes
- Keyboard Shortcuts
- Mouse Gestures
- Search
This list might not be 100% accurate but should give a good overview.
Especially that it not syncs the keyboard shortcuts sucks since I overhauled them for me completely.
What can I do about this?

Hi,
You can:
-
Create a copy of your current Main Profile
- Edit it and save it as Base / Template
- Then paste it on new Profiles and add the especific differences
-
Create a New One Template Profile
- Follow same steps
As extra info / steps, follow this guide.

@Zalex108 How do I create such a copy of my current Main Profile and save it as a template?
-
Sorry,
Not clearly explained on the first post.--
Follow the Vivaldi Back up | Reset guide.
Stop Sync before the copy to avoid problems mixing Profiles Sync'd
- Close Vivaldi
- Copy it, - Cache can be Skipped / Emptied-
- Create the New Profile from Vivaldi Profiles Manager
- Open the Profile, Locate it - Menu > Help > About
- Paste the folder to the new Profile Location
- Run it and make the needed changes
- Check about Sync / Vivaldi Cookies to assure to avoid conflicts on the new Profile:
- You can create new user accounts to Sync your Profiles:
- Main | Study | Work | Entertainment | Shopping | Template
- You can create new user accounts to Sync your Profiles:
--
- Save that Template Profile and repeat the steps on each new Profile
Suggestions:
- Keep a BackUp of the Specific differences as per Extensions Settings, Bookmarks, AdBlocker...
- As well as the Full Profiles folder BackUp

On my side,
I prefer to start the Template from the Beginning instead of cleaning an existing one.
Consider what's better on your case. -
