Make website think Vivaldi is Internet Explorer
-
The "old" and "New" Opera has a feature that allowed the user to disguise Opera so that the site thought it was an approved browser. There is a couple of sites I need to access several times a week and the only browsers that they recognize are Internet Explorer and Opera. They won't work with Vivaldi, Chrome or Firefox.
I have been a PC user since the days of bulletin boards years before the internet. I have been a Vivaldi user since Jon broke away from Opera and I had been an Opera user since it was launched. I left IE as soon as there was an alternative.
I won't use IE, so I have to use Opera. Does Vivaldi have such a feature that I have not discovered yet? If so, that will save me the headache of having to launch another browser.
Thanks, and there isn't a way yet, then I will put in a new feature request.

Hi, you can use developer tools (F12) > set to Network conditions > User Agent and disable "Select automatically" to Internet Explorer or use an extension called User Agent Switcher > https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg
Dev tools are working only once but nice for testing.
Can you add a link to such pages, please?Cheers, mib

Tumbleweed - One is att.com. After I login, when I attempt to go into my billing, it just goes into an endless loop. The other that I hit at least weekly is a special feature on Politico.com. There is a weekly feature that after the first link, refuses to go any further. I have no other problems on the site.
As I stated in my original request, both sites work as they should with Opera and IE.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will see what happens with the Developer Tool and with the User Agent Switcher. Thanks again.

Not as a native feature. As Chrom[e/ium] relies upon extensions for this functionality, so too does Vivaldi.
You can read the Help Article on User Agent Spoofing for more details. I use the extension linked in that article, though there are many options available, including the one linked by @mib2berlin that will work. I just know many prefer not use Google's solutions. -
I would personally distrust any page that only supports an outdated browser, such as IE. Which for me translates into an unattended and not at all secure page, or directly malicious to take advantage of the low security of the IE.
If these pages are important, I would contact the owner of this page to write a few nice words and would be happy to find another webmaster urgently. -
I very strongly doubt that the AT&T and Politico sites would only support IE. This is most likely not a User Agent issue, but something else.
Probably blocking of 3rd-party cookies or an extension interfering.

@Pathduck Or an horribly made browser detection feature.
I mean, a big site which prevent chrome user agent to work is very very strange. -
